i just ordered a 200amp HO alternator for a 2002 galant which my stock alternator is 85amps. Just wanna know since my alternator is so week right now and my amp is the zx1500.1. Does this put more stress on the amp to and make it really hot because my subs constantly cut out and the amp is extremley hot after like 10 min and sumtimes on a hot day my amp is already hot and then i try to play my system and it only bumps for like 2 minutes before it keeps cutting out. Will the HO alternator prevent this from happening because i dont feel like wasting money if i didnt have to. im runnin this system to 2 12" l7's and i know everythign is wired correctly and i got 2 guage amp kit.

the gain is only half way up, crossover is 80, and bass boost 1/4 up and it still gets really hot. But does having a week alternator put stress on the amp and make it hot to??

i dont see how it would make it hot, if the amp isnt even getting full power from your electrical system it shouldnt be getting any warmer than it would with full power. Some amps just run hot, if its a scalding hot there might be a problem but it is normal for something with that much power to get hot.

yea my alternator now is 85A so i know its really weak and my lights dim like crazy and my amp is benched at 1700watts rms i know those amps do get hot so maybe its just the weak alternator making the subs and amp clip. could that be possible?

yes, i would just wait until you get your new alternator and just unplug your amp for now. You don't want to cause any more damage than you might have already.

idk if i'll be able to go without bass for like almost 2 weeks tho lol cuz thats how long its gonna take i bought it from excessiveamperage. i guess i could just turn the stuff down for now until i get the new alt and then put it back to normal

you'll probably be okay if you keep the volumes down and gains low

Well...you either wait or you can blow up your gear and have no bass anyways.Choose your end result.
