Gold Member Username: BlainewPost Number: 2379 Registered: Nov-05 | does putting that box stuffing stuff..fiberfill...that white soft stuff..make your bass more boomy or tighter? |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 8544 Registered: Jun-06 | It would add apparent volume to the box changing its' tuning. Do you really want to do that? I've added polyfil/padding to some of my boxes and I never had ill results. Simple to remove if it did. Harmless to try right? |

I USED to believe the possible enclosure benefits were at around 15% at most using fill. That was an "old school" rule of thumb that, along with improved research and materials, has now increased more than double fold. Years ago I would even reduce my volume to accomodate for fill, just to gain its' properties. To me, bottom line, it just sounded better. |

Gold Member Username: BasssquaredKansas Post Number: 1013 Registered: Nov-06 | so can you guys give me suggestions of where i can get polyfill? |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 8555 Registered: Jun-06 | Fabric store for one. In the past I've used carpet padding and even fiberglass insulation. There's alot of materials out there with sound absorption properties. |
Gold Member Username: BasssquaredKansas Post Number: 1014 Registered: Nov-06 | fiberglass flying out the port would be nasty |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 8556 Registered: Jun-06 | I guess it would be lol. I used it on sealed enclosures only, mostly for home audio. |
Gold Member Username: BasssquaredKansas Post Number: 1015 Registered: Nov-06 | so if i put it in a ported box do i have to worry about stapling it or anything or can i just stuff it into the port LOL |

Gold Member Username: BlainewPost Number: 2380 Registered: Nov-05 | but does it make the basss tighter or b0omier?! or neither? |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 5752 Registered: Jun-04 | its just better overall.....try it |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 5753 Registered: Jun-04 | it does make the box seem larger to the subwoofer so adjust accordingly |
Gold Member Username: InsearchofbassPost Number: 5754 Registered: Jun-04 | unless you overstuff |
Silver Member Username: MesodummTri-City, Az Usa Post Number: 164 Registered: Apr-07 | you need to staple it!! for sure! I use it on sealed boxes mostly! I never really put it in vented boxes unless I am space restricted then I will put it in a vented box but stay away from the vents. Memphis techs are the ones who got me doing it. I Always use subs Tech support to figure out airspace and stuffing when I do this. |
