i just made a new SPL chart for 2 alpine type usind WinISD and was supprised to realize that my kappa perfects would be louder in my box at 1000 watts. could this be?? should i not even bother to install the type x's. or will the SQ improve ment be worth the loss or SPL.
They are not that bad. My buddy has them installed in his Maxima and I was impressed with the SQL. The new type R's however are terrible. I heard them installed in a 350z and wanted to throw up after hearing so many missed low notes. This guy paid alot, but he was happy. Want to know what makes me sick anything Kicker.
Exactly Type X is geared for SQ than for SPL. It produces accurate low note octaves. I had Type R's about 1year ago and I was not impressed. They did pound but the sound quality was not up to par.
well my Kappa Perfetcs have a good amount of SQ pretty much enough fore me but they still pound pretty damn hard. but i was looking for at least little more SQ and SPL with the Type X (since they cost about 4 times what the kappa perfects cost),not just SQ and a loss in SPL.
I see what you are saying. Have you tried a different box or is the box you have now cooperating with the parameters set by Alpine to house the subs in?
my box is about 3.94 cubes tuned to 35.5 hz using 2 4 inch round ports. the specs are pretty much what is recomended by crutchffield only slghtly bigger and tuned higher. I would probly build a new box just so i can sell on old one with my old subs but the specs will still be about the same.
I see. Amp is set okay I suppose. I don't know what to tell you man. I would take those type x's and sell them to some kid who does not know anything. If he knows anything about hype, his eyes will light up at the sight of those alpines.
yea i might as well i guess. i am just very suprised to see that thoes speakers are really not that much better for all of that extra money. I am debating testing them to see if they really are not louder but then i doubt i will be able to sell them for as much
wow..... so let me get this right- you modeled this up in winisd, and now, because it doesn't model well, you want to sell it.. without ever actually trying it? come on now.. winisd's plotting is not at all accurate. it doesn't take into account cabin gain (it can't) and other factors. it is merely a what if, free air "in theory" plot. it has no bearing on the real world. and some subs simply DO NOT model up well, for various reasons... (take the tc5200 and try and model it up, ported) it models HORRIBALLY simply because of the high bl factor. And it is one of the loudest subs out there (although it is very box picky)... bottom line- try em. disregard the winisd plot, as it is useless...
rob k i am going to put them in a box custom sit into the shelf becuas thte type x dosnt do good free air. unless i put my kappa's in the shelf cuz they will do free air. idk im still deciding.
I realize that winISD does not calculate cabin gain but i am really just shocked to see how poorly the type x models. I still may try them to compare then to the kappa perfects but probably wont run the type x's on their own unless i get 2 more.
If any of you are considering perfects buy them because they kick azz!!!!
any one know where to get your car metered in Rochester NY
you put my rl-s through winISD and you will find out it comes out real bad too. but me or anyone else that has use them will tell you that it is a solid sub.
