I have a Pioneer DEH-P5900IB and a Fosgate 700s AMP running 2 10" subs. The deck has the ability to low pass 50, 63, 80 hz (which I currently have set to 63) and High pass at 80hz. In the low pass setting I can increase the output by +/-6, I can also do "bass boost" with another option/screen which can increase the bass by 6 increments. And lastly I have the gain control knob for the amp.

So...Which do i start and end with to get the sub output at an optimum level (not boomy)?

I attempted to turn the amp knob down all the way, setup the low pass, then the bass boost, and then use the gain for fine control...but this doesn't seem to be getting me the same quality as my old deck (pioneer deh-p6300 which only had lowpass option of 80 or 50 hz +/-6...and my amp gain knob)

Set the amp to "full" on the xover, bass boost to zero...set the HU to 80 on the low & 100 on the high...then play with the sub level (usually somewhere around 4 or 5)...then go play with the user eq settings to get what you like...then use the bass boost (on the HU) for the songs that are lacking in bass

Don't use the bass boost. that is only for your speakers, and you shouldn't have a tremendous amount of bass going through your speakers.
