In the next few weeks TC sounds will be increasing there prices 30-50% across the board (drivers, recones, etc) It sucks, but it doesn't seem to many on this forum use them anyways... |

Gold Member Username: HdubbFarmington, Nm Usa Post Number: 2207 Registered: Nov-04 | did they give a reason for the price increase? sems like everyone is raising prices |
Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 11 Registered: Jul-07 | No reason given, unfortunately... i have my theories, but they are just that...theories |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 8278 Registered: Jun-06 | This sounds a tad fishy. A 50% increase on a big mac is crazy, let alone an $800 sub. I can't see any benifit in scaring any potential consumer away even further. |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202Sewell, NJ US Post Number: 787 Registered: Nov-06 | Yeah thats a ridiculous jump in price, I was gonna try their subs out in the future but I guess I won't be after that increase. |

Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 13 Registered: Jul-07 | Paul- I'm sorry if you don't believe me.. http://www.tcsounds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1415&st=0 There is the proof for ya.. i should have put it in the original post... as i posted in the linked thread- my personal guesses as to what it may be are- 1. cost of raw materials is ALWAYS on the rise (from raw metal, all the way down to spiders) 2. maybe to "help" the companies they oem out to be more competitive in pricing 3. to help build up stock a little bit 4. to move closer to the brick and mortar retailers i believe they were interested in (if i remember correctly, please excuse me if i am mistaken) lots of reasons it could be.. or i could be way off base and its none of these also- it should be mentioned that tc is first and foremost a build house for several other companies. at the price that tc was selling drivers, they were not making much profit, and severely under-cutting there oem clients. that cannot continue forever. Also- they have several new drivers in the works (nice ones, i should say...) and they seem to want to go in a whole new direction... It is a shame, but it will be interesting to see what pans out in the near future |

Gold Member Username: Safe_crackerChicago, IL US Post Number: 3001 Registered: Jan-06 | Not only expensive, most of there motors used the extreme BL ratings anyways which limited there use to SQ/sealed setups while they did have subs suitable for ported enclosures they really lacked overall performance over much cheaper units. To boost marketing they tried fluffing there products with sensless gimicks like the titanium cones, tried to buy one and they basically talked me out of it, later on found out they were unavailable even though you could still purchase them on-line. Overall I think the company is a little odd and honestly they may not want anymore orders because they might be losing there shirts... JMHO..Polo.. PS- Also, do you think that heavy @ss basket is cheap to make? |
Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 14 Registered: Jul-07 | Rearrange- eclipse hasnt had tc sounds as a buildhouse for a while.. you dont have to worry about there prices rising.. I have worked with tc rather extensively on some projects for myself, though, and i know a little bit of the background, i cannot, however, disclose any of the stuff that i know (and it would be in bad taste to do so)I'm sorry if i have offended anyone...anyone who goes to the other forums has probably seen me and my collection, but for those who don't, and have doubts- here is my collection... http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000558.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000557.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000409.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000510.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000509.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000506.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000423.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000241.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000242-1.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000867.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000864.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000863.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000862.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000861.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000859.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000856.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000855.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000853.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000852.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000858.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p80/visitor_01/IM000857.jpg that's a good portion of my stuff (about half of it) I'm just a consumer i hope that clears it up? |

Gold Member Username: Safe_crackerChicago, IL US Post Number: 3003 Registered: Jan-06 | Why would a person go out of his way to build another companies subs, do you think you can do it better as a consumer or are you trying to be someone, maybe a company, or just bored? Just curious....Polo. |
Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 17 Registered: Jul-07 | Just bored... I can make it what i want. Example-If I want a 10" 4hp driver (not offered by tc) its no problem to make it..., plus i do not have to wait for a recone if i blow it.. and then lets add in the fact that it costs FAR less to buy parts than a complete driver...As far as "trying to be someone" i cant say that i really care to be someone. and as far as building another companies subs- dont quite know what you are referring to there, seeing how none of the drivers i build/have built have anything in common with any other production driver, other than a motor. Can i ask why you feel the need to jump on me? just curious. |
Gold Member Username: HdubbFarmington, Nm Usa Post Number: 2208 Registered: Nov-04 | i think the just want o know who you because you ahave a vast amount of knowledge and the ability to build your own subs and knowing a lot of inside people. which boils downs to; whoever you are your the man! lol i wish i could biuld my own woofers. well whoeva you may be your welcome here sir |
Gold Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Post Number: 3335 Registered: Jan-05 | very nice stuff, i see a couple 4hp in there those are some badass motors, i do have a question though would you happen to know anything about shocker audio, i was wondering cause i heared mike, the owner of shocker, used the 4hp as his sig motor but he did some mods to it would you have any info on that. |

Gold Member Username: Safe_crackerChicago, IL US Post Number: 3004 Registered: Jan-06 | Not jumping, just curious. So you in no way shape or form plan to resell TC's subs as your own? I was just getting the vibe that is what you plan to do, but hey if you are just bored and a Hobbiest like the rest of us then keep us posted it is most interesting indeed! Polo.. |

Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 19 Registered: Jul-07 | Paul and Polo- to clarify- In no way, shape, or form do i intend to sell tc sounds drivers, or recones for said drivers. it is 100% my own use (if i do sell ANY parts, it is purely to help a fellow enthusiast out, and generally i send them to Tim Roy at sound extreme.) I have 0 interest in customer service sales And actually- i don't just build based off of others motors... I also have made (or had built by someone) a few custom motors completely Yes Paul- i would call myself the messenger in this case. right or wrong. And it is far more than a hobby... To be totally honest i am far more into the technical aspect of speaker design than actual "stereo setups" I really do hope that that clears things up |
Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 20 Registered: Jul-07 | Joe- yes that is me. (although i am ashamed to say it, lol) that forum is a waste. Also- to Paul and Polo- you will probably see me in mainly TC sounds threads, or recone threads simply because they are what i know.. moreso than others |
Gold Member Username: JblanfordPost Number: 1834 Registered: Oct-06 | "Polo- you will probably see me in mainly TC sounds threads, or recone threads simply because they are what i know.. moreso than others" well we won't see much of you, because there's not one person here with TC product that i can name off the top of my head lol |

Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveA pic is worth 1000 posts!! Post Number: 8289 Registered: Jun-06 | And Joe, there are ppl here with TC subs. I just can't remember who they are lol. |
Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 21 Registered: Jul-07 | Joe- i lurk mainly.. so you probably wont see much of me, unless there is a recone thread or tc thread. doesn't mean I'm not around Paul- not out of line at all. i have nothing to hide/conceal... Yep- i invest every penny of the stuff that i have, with very little (if any) discount on parts. I do well in life, and this is the hobby i enjoy (i do not usually buy parts from tc sounds, weather or not it looks like it.) I generally buy my parts from their parts houses. and of late a few considerate business owners have helped me out with a few pieces that i cannot get easily otherwise (for example- Recently i looked into placing an order for 18" cones.. i was told that i needed to order a minimum of 80 cones. I don't need that many, so i go to a few of my other sources, and bam- got 5-10 cones coming) |

Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 22 Registered: Jul-07 | Hunter- That is a 10" LA basket, with a 4hp motor. That picture is in the middle of assembly. I put a Nomex/CF cone on it (like the TC sounds OEM 10 cone) Then it got a 4" dvc 1.7ohm coil, and 2 poly-cotton spiders (with spacer) with leads in em. it worked ok.. it had some issues (i was afraid of it happening..) as far as the amps- They are 2 Rockford t30001's, with a t8004 and an avic D1 navi unit. I originally had 6 of the amps, but sold 4 after i realized i simply didn't need that much power... And Paul- don't worry about that... I am in the process of building 6 more 4HPZ motors, and i have a few interesting subs in the works |

Bronze Member Username: VisitorMiddleofnowhere, Minnesota USA Post Number: 23 Registered: Jul-07 | I got into it when i blew up a couple of team rf subs, and i simply did not want to pay tc sounds recone prices on the drivers (about $300 per) and i dint want to mess with Cactus sounds, Shocker, or any of the others. I decided i would rebuild them myself, so i contacted a friend who is buddies with Thilo, and he got me parts, i built em, had fun, and decided i would keep doing it, and experiment more. so i researched, found parts houses, and ordered.. its been going on from there. As for the amps- they are nice. i like em a lot! i run them at 1 ohm daily.. no complaints |
