Fuse blowing in amp

I have a sub that's dual 2 ohm voice coils, wired it in series to get a 4 ohm load, but both the 20A fuses in the amp blew. How could this happen? I have a 60 amp fuse on the amp power wire, should I downsize that to a 40A?
