Changed Battery Car Won't Start (Viper 8 yrs old)

This seems to be a common problem. After battery change the alarm goes off. I tried pressing the valet switch with the ignition on and it stops the alarm. Alarm sounds again when I remove key. Car won't start.

I'm about to tow it to Best Buy. Any suggestions?
