It cuts a lot easier, routes, sands etc. Its much much better on the tools as well. Plus its lighter. I really believe it builds a much better box, or obviously I wouldnt be paying the extra money for it over MDF. |

Bronze Member Username: JayzbentIL. USA Post Number: 27 Registered: May-07 | Yeah they have superlight weight MDF they want $56 bucks a sheet though but it does come in 3/4 and 4x8. I was just worried about the density. Here is what I found on it. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:nzudRnFUKp4J:www.wooddigest.com/print/Wood- Digest/Particleboard-vs-MDF/2%24852+superlight+weight+MDF&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=2&gl= us Basically: With MDF, there are not different grades, but different densities. They are regular, light, ultralight and superlight. The higher the density, the stronger the physical properties. * Regular is usually 48 lbs. per cu. ft. -- used for furniture * Light is usually 38 lbs. per cu. ft. -- used for kitchen cabinets/store fixtures * Ultralight is usually 32 lbs. per cu. ft. -- used for mouldings * Superlight is usually 24 lbs. per cu. ft. -- used for door parts/wall paneling |
