Will upgrading the speaker wires from the subs to the amp help. I currently have 16 gauge. Should I use a smaller gauge wire? I have two 12" BMs and a NINe.1.

Usually Thicker Speaker wire can help..Like 10awg..some people do overkill and get 4awg but i find there to be nothing rong with overkill

no audible difference between 16 and 10, but i reccommend u get 10 ga like dru said bc it has slightly better current capacity and wont het up as quite. however you wont hear a diff

" Should I use a smaller gauge wire? "

You mean larger gauge wire. Lower number = larger. And no it won't make a difference with that amp/subs.

not sure, im only runnin a 500 wat amp to two subs and when i put my capacitor in i had to switch to 4 gage cause the grouds melted lmao. go to 4 gage and be safe, it will last forever and when you upgrade your system you dont need to buy new wiring and reinstall all of it....

I know I went overboard with my speaker wire for both my subs. 15" Mag and 18" Q. I used 10ga for both. My run was short and I only had 1000wrms. I didn't care. I wanted absolutely zero signal loss and heat build up. For my cost it was an easy decision. If you were running 20-30' of wire well....your call.
