Ok next month i plan to go to a small comp and im going to take my 2 18" Q's. I think i found the resonant frequency of my vehicle like around 45hz. Should i face the subs up and the port back towards the back of the explorer and a huge port like 300+ sq in?? I know they arnt really spl oriented, but they do get really loud so im pretty sure ill take it, just with my sealed enclosure and without my HO alt, im beating everyone i know. Do you guys think its POSSIBLE to hit like 145+ with 2 18" Q's and 3200 watts rms?? I know its all install but just wanting to know if its a possibility because i dont really know how loud dbs are ive never been to a comp. Thanx.

dont do 300 sq in thats 2 much.... 2 much port area isnt good. and u should do better than 145 w/ that much power and the subs u picked

wouldnt 332.5 sq in be good?? If you use the subwoofer box calculator it gives like 350 so there wont be port noise with the Q's xmax, and isnt it true more port area more spl?? Its not like im doing 600 sq in because then wouldnt it lose alot of compresion?? Yes i already have two 18" Q's, im gonna use them for this small comp next month, then in July for the more serious comp im gonna do 8 12" premiers. This is my box plan for the 18" Q's.

subs up port to back of suv. height 20 in, width 49in, depth 32in. port 47.5in wide and 7 in high at the bottom of the back of the enclosure tuned to about 48hz but after displacement of subs and bracing like around 45hz. What you think?

o ya and the box should be like around 13 cubes after displacements and 15.5 net volume, or so.

SPL or SQL? If you going for SPL like a burp box dont make it that big thats way to big i think

Its gonna be for pure SPL at the comp. What do you guys think then? About 275sq in? Its gonna be tuned to 45hz.

Does anyone know where i can upload a vid besides youtube so i can post vids of my Q's??

the best thing you can do is go to the fi fprum and ask scott, he will know what would be the best.

for a spl box of that size 300sq inches of port would be pretty good, but anything over 400 imo would be overkill, in a good box i could see a 149+db score, but it all depends on your install, also i hoped you upgraded your electrical system to run all that power.

Do you guys think its possible to hit 150+ db with 8 07model 12" pioneer premiers tuned to the resonant frequency of my vehicle with 3200 watts rms??

Premiers do get loud!!

If my Q's dont work out for me because now that one of thems, tinsel lead broke then i definately will get all those premiers.

I have an enclosed trunk and I was wondering if a box design like this for 1 18" FI Q Would be a good idea? Also, Do you think a 38"x18"x14" box is too small for this single sub?

I do believe Eric on here has that design of enclosure with an 18" Q in his trunk. Ask him how its sounds, IMO it would probably rattle the trunk alot. Check out his vid on ROE(realmofexcursion.com). That box would only be about 4.35 cubes of airspace, plus you have to factor out the displacement of the port and subwoofer. If thats all the room you can work with i would go sealed. Honestly since its in a car though id probably go with a 12" or a 15" ported, tuned low.

Hmm.. 12" or 15" if i were only getting one, and do you think i should build a box similar to the one i drew above, or should i mount the sub on the side of it?

I would fire the sub and the port to the front of the car. Thats the best way subs sounded in my car in the trunk, but cars vary.

That sounds just like what I need. Do you have dimensions for that? Port width, Length, Etc?

Definitely on the small side of things... 3.76 before port and driver. Running through the absolute minimal design I can do... you will be too small. Doesnt look like a Q will quite make it in that space. Find another .5 cuft and your golden.

Is this for SQ, or all around?
