Alright im running my two AQ SD2.5 12"s on my Ednine.1 and the lights are pretty bad like interior headlights they get brutal at night so i was wondering if a new batt would do me any good cuz i don't have enuf cash to buy a ho alt right now but a batt is in my range
It will to do good. If you get minor voltage drop, the spare battery can make up that voltage, and before the next "bump" the alternator should do its job for both batteries. MrKingRob runs 2k+ watts on a stock alt with no dimming. It is possible.
" If you get minor voltage drop, the spare battery can make up that voltage "
Batteries do not create power, they store it. The alternator is the sole source of power. Minor voltage drop to 12.5 volts or above is normal and even an HO alternator will usually not fix it. It occurs because the alt's voltage regulator is not fast enough, causing a drop to battery voltage briefly. Extra batteries do not increase voltage and therefore have no effect on voltage drop.
well heres my 2 cents... the people that say if it drops below 12v u need a ho alt... well hear this... i had hifonics brutus bx1200d rated at 1200 rms @ 1ohm... my lights dimed like hell, i bought a 50$ battery put it in my trunk, no dim at all, and only runing 4 gwg wire back to it... and b4 my votlage dropped to like 11.2 or something... no no light dim, and ive been doing this for months, no alt problems.
"id say i been runing it for atleast 7-8 months... wouldnt it have gone by now?"
Not exactly.Alternators are made/built to last years but you're most likely decreasing it's life span by putting extra stress on it with your audio system.
