yesterday i manage to blow one of my memphis amps.
here is what happened.
as i was leaving my work, i decided to drop my ohm load down to .5 ohm strapped. remember my amps are stable at 2ohms strapped. i was driving home. its a good 40 minute drive. anyways my sh!t was bumping so hard i could barely stand it.
when i got near my house i hear "pop" from the woofers and it cut out. so i got home and opened the trunk and there was little smoke coming from one of my amps. so i took it out and connected the subs to just one amp. it still bumps nicely considering its only 2000wrms now since its wired at 2ohm to 1 memphis.
well the amp is still under warranty so it will get fixed. thank God.
so any of you guys that are getting the memphis 4kw, don't go below the ohm load unless you have sh!t load of batteries.
on a side note.....
i went to see spiderman 3 yesterday and it sux azz. thats 2 and a half hours of my life i'll never get back. not to mention waiting in line for 40 minutes.
lol yeah. i don't know what i was thinking doing that yesterday. i guess its the weather. it was 90 degrees here yesterday so the hot weather got to me.
anyways i know not to do that anymore. i just have to wait a month for my amp to get repaired.
the action was good i guess. the storyline was all over the place and it felt like they were trying to do too much in one movie. there were really no good build ups prior to each fighting scene.
Don't recall ever seeing anyone complain about S3. I'm trying to get the game for PS3. Check the warranty on your amp. Sometimes they won't cover damage done due to user error. It won't be hard for them to find out why/how the amp blew.
"okay rob i thought if there was going to be a problem, it would go in to protect or something. which it didn't. :-( you live and learn man."
Did you expect the light to turn on and say"Hey Chad? You there?Maybe umm...this isn't such a great idea,I mean...we're only 2ohm stable here and you're running us at .5ohm so um...please turn us off now."
I'm also kind of afraid of you now Chad, you Asians know all that crazy Kung-Fu- jump and kick a b1tch in the head stuff. But X2 on the WANGS,bring dem Wangs and we'll be WANGIN!!!Actually, don't,I'm on a stupid diet

ur pretty much an idiot man lol .5 for 2 strapped amps and 2 batterys lol come on man u shoulda knew, but i bet it was banging lol u get full coverage on ur own fault

haha how much is one of those polite protect lights haha
Chad, does that mean you're not trying to sell my subs anymore??? Can we get the priorities straight here? lol Hope your amp situation works out or if not, I think you should not eat for 2 months and just get 2 RF4000.1s!!!
I was going to buy a memphis 4kw and run it at .5 daily, but I asked some pepole who were very familiar with the amp and they said it was a bad idea. What made you want to run at 1ohm strapped? On your electrical system, that had bad idea written all over it.
To bad you didn't have a chance to get it metered while at 1ohm strapped.
matt at .5 ohms it works fine. i just ran the amp at .5ohms coming home yesterday and it almost sounded as loud as when i had both amps. i re-wired it back to a 2ohm load when i got home though. just didn't want to take any chances.
ima go meter it wired to .5ohms this weekend to see what kinda numbers i might be doing.
Don't do it. There's a chance you'll clip the amp to death again. Sometimes the "bass" you hear loud may not be real music. If you ever listened to distortion/clip it can get deceiving.
