Ok driving home today i had music cranked up pretty loud. absolutely not a spec of distortion at all though. all the sudden the treble just seemed to drop out completely. it was kinda wierd...like it all happened in about a half second, but you could still hear the treble "gradually" drop out in the half second. it was like a instantaneous but smooth transition from having treble to not having treble.

i checked everything on the amp (an eD Nine.2x) and its all runnin fine. no protect light or anything. so everything is okay there. same with the HU..dono why it'd be the HU in the first place but the HU is fine.

so its somewhere between the DRT-26's and the 560i x-overs im guessing? the drt-26's are the silk ones. i mentioned the M6's it's set up with because it seems like they dont kick quite as hard any more...maybe im dreaming though. but for sure all the treble just dropped out. also, both sides of the car went out at once.....its not like just one of the tweets dropped out, both did at the same time.

does this sound like i blew the tweeters (i dont even know if you can blow tweeters?) or does it sound like its somewhere in the crossover? lemme know, thanks

if its both sides it would be hard to say its the crossovers unless they did it at the same time, the same way. Did it go back to normal? try turning your system off for a bit and then turn it back on. Sounds like the amp to me.

i dont know if those crossovers have tweeter protection or something, just open them up and see if anything burnt up in them

if im not mistaken, they dont have protection. regardless....i opened up one and couldnt find anything that looked burnt at all. if the crossover would have blown, something would have had to burn right? the crossovers appeared fine. i used my radioshack DMM to try and figure out what the resistance was at each set of terminals but i kept gettin number that didnt make sense....nothing was even close to 4 ohms. this is what i used: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103174&cp=&fbn=Price%2F%2 410.00+-+%2449.99&fbc=1&fr=StorePrice%2FRSK%2F00001000%2F00004999&kw=multimeter& parentPage=search , should i try this other one that automatically selects the range for you? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?parentPage=search&summary=summary&cp =&productId=2104114&accessories=accessories&kw=multimeter&techSpecs=techSpecs&cu rrentTab=summary&fbn=Price%2F%2410.00+-+%2449.99&custRatings=custRatings&feature s=features&fbc=1&fr=StorePrice%2FRSK%2F00001000%2F00004999&support=support&tab=f eatures ?? im still thinking its the tweeter but i dono....

the tweeters don't have tweeter protection on them, only the 480 and below have them.

k thats what i thought. talked to cdt today. they're not sure why they both blew at the same time. they want me to send the tweeters back in since the crossovers aren't burnt up or anything. ill admit im quite worried about something happening and eD and CDT both end up blaming each other. hopefully it works out though. anyone dealt with CDT's service before? John is who I'm working with if you have had any experiences with him.
