What are the pros and cons of using this stuff on my box? I heard of it awhile back and was wondering if it would be safe to use something like this for my box?

my bud did that in the bed of his F-150 and it turned out nice and works great... He had it rhino lined along with the truck bed so it was done professionally.

the stuff at advanced is no where near the quality of rhino liner but we all know you get what you pay for. I'm going to be using the stuff from advanced so I'll give a nice little review. I picked up 2 cans to do a 3.5cuft box. I don't know how much is needed yet though.

nice lifted trucks > trucks that go off road and look like sh!t.

chad- i would fill the holes from the screws and then apply it. the port i would tape off and leave it just painted black in there.

Yeah he built it STRICTLY for shows. The dash is completely fiberglassed, all new interior, obviously the paint, shaved tail lights (tails are in the roll pan), roll pan for the bumper, rear doors shaved, rear tail gate handle shaved, 2 15" Rockford p2's (I think they are the P2's) sittin up 8", 36" tires and 20" rims.

TIPS on applying what i refer to as "The black Death". I used the duplicolor stuff fron the auto parts store, the big jug of it and 2 cans for finishing effect.

Why its called the black death is it's 5 main ingredients cause cancer and it does not clean up with anything.

Multiple layers using the special roller. the roller is the only thin i can think of that gives it that textured look.

Do it in temps above 70, really they mean it. anything under that and it tacks up too quickly and starts to gobb up.

Use the can stuff as a finishing texturizer.

Make sure you have a place it can air for a few days. It take a long time to fully cure ~3-4 days, and smells for about a week. I had a few times i was going to faint from the smell of the stuff.

It is Vinyl based, nothing that i found cleans it out or off of anything. paint thiner does nothing, same with water.

to hide the screws (if you are motivated) use a wood filler, once dry sand it down and it will dissapear with a coat of the black stuff.

Dont put any in the port, it will only create resistance and cause the air to make high pitched noises as its sucked in and out of the port. you want the port as smooth as you can get it.

Here is my box. Its a FI Q 15" in a 12 CuFt box for my home theater, Tuned to 14Hz.

u mean like rhinoliner?

check out boxes at www.proboxrocks.com

they look badazz and EXTREMELY loud, there designed strictly for spl though, tuned to 45hz, my bros 10in solobarics with theprobox was a lot louder than my 12's, u can spill anything on them and it will roll off dry, very sturdy boxes, mainly for suv's

J B do you have any idea what show cars are? It's not meant for daily driving but made for showing off.You don't abuse show trucks/cars,it would just be stupid and defeat it's purpose.Oh and a lot of guys out there jump out of their huge trucks and are like 5 feet tall, talk about compensating,it's pretty funny if you ask me.

its kinda of an inside joke between a me and few guys here. there was a debate on whether one should carpet the box or not. some say haveing the carpet will reduce the air flowing around the box and some say it don't matter.

forgot to add........better air flow toward the mic will result in higher numbers. i don't know what side i am on though. all i can say is if it does make a difference, not by much.

The stuff in the can is a little different. It has a lot of texture, but it is smaller textures. I don't know if that explains it right tho. The ones in those pics is a different texture...almost rubbery. The spray can is a lot like really coarse sand paper when dried.

(Sorry for the rambling, I got to the point eventually)

that stuff looks like a profressional bed liner like rhino liner. the stuff out of the cant wont be nearly as aggressive. I want the aggressive look but I know its expensive. Chad, you like to spend money, go with the rhino liner 8)

The stuff I used was roll on and spray. I dident have a sprayer that could handle the stuff. it needs a like 1/4" sprayer. I would imaging spraying it would get smaller bumps and texture but still some there for effect.

No definitely not. Do not do it in the box or port. That's for outside only. It will hurt the air flow!

I dont know about places around yall but here if you do it professionally you have to buy the whole set which is enough to do a whole truck bed. I looked at doing the rocker panels of my jeep and they said it was going to cost 600 bucks because they cant buy just a little bit... Let me know what it costs around you woofer
