well i need help getting an appropriate and cost effective amp for as cheap as possibly but i dont want to sacrifice quality either im going to run 2 12" kenwood subs and they're power range is: 50-400 watts RMS (1200 watts peak power)

prolly over rated bit... so u want bout 600wrms amp. 300 to each sub... hifonics would be a budget choice here

Peak power doesnt matter. it is all about RMS

i say give it the full 800 watts rms, what good would it do a company to overrate subs? amps it makes sense... not subs, but i have no idea...

I'm sure some companies overrate their subs too because people who don't know their stuff would think "Oh look this sub has a high wattage, it must be much louder than those other subs."

give it the rated power but just make sure you are not clipping it. you can actually give speakers higher than their rated as long as there is low distortion and no clipping. clipping is what usually destroys speakers.
