I need 700-800 Watts RMS...Can't find a good amp! Help...

Ok, I just picked up to MA Audio 12" subs. They're rated at 700 Watts peak, and 350 watts RMS each. I need to find something to power these. I'm looking for a dead match or a slight overpowering. I'm trying to avoid running two amps, though. I'm considering perhaps underpowering them if it's a nice Alpine or Kenwood (Which put out 600 watts rms @ 2 ohms). Any recommendations? I see a ton of cheapo no name brands on ebay, but I don't trust them.

So basically, any good amps I can hunt for deals on?

I also meant to ask, how is MA Audio or Visonik when it comes to amps? I don't trust them, but some people seem to...

Yeah I had a feeling I couldn't trust those brands. I'll look into the kickers. I'm trying to keep cost down. I'm selling my current small 500 watt bazooka system to someone and trying to upgrade without spending another many hundred. I got the subs for $120, which wasn't bad, so I'm looking to spend <$200 on an amp, since I still need to upgrade my electronics.

Any other suggestions? I'll probably be buying used on ebay.

FYI: MA audio, Visonik, and Kenwood = crap. Kenwood probably being the worst of the three.

Alpine amps are nice. The kicker's posted above are better though.

If you want an idea of what other brands to look at:

Eh, I think I'll probably just go with Kicker, since I can get a factory refurb for around $210 shipped. If you can get closer to this with the DD I'm up for it. I don't know much about the brand, but I see it on the recommended list and I'm guessing they're competition speakers...Sell me on them

Email me if interested. DD is a great product and the amp is BRAND NEW for $50 more than a Kicker. Go to www.ddaudio.com to get more info and pics of amp. Email me.

I am definitely interested. I just don't know first hand how much better this DD amp is when compared to the kicker. Are the specs listed CEA-2006? I'm looking on the site, but I don't see peak ratings. They don't matter to me, but I do need to know so I can determine what capacitor to buy and what gauge wire I need. I have 8 gauge wire now, but I doubt that will be enough.

I probably shouldn't be thinking about it so hard and just taking you up on the offer for the DD. I guess I'm just making absolute certain first, since I'm very low on cash, so anything I buy has to be the best deal I can find.

So, I didn't mention earlier that these are supposedly "dual 4 ohm voice coils" in each sub. Can I be running a 2 ohm amp on these then? Or do I need a 1 ohm

What about RD Audio 800.1 or Massive audio P1000.1?
They sound like a good deal but I know nothing of these brands...

Joey, thanks for that link, that helps a lot.
I'm still having trouble finding information on the RA Audio amp, though. I trust the seller, but I'd still like to read up on it

Whats the normal price on the RD 800.1? I'm pretty sold on their quality, that's for damn sure. Seems to be up there with DD. Kevin is offering me what seems to be a great deal and I appreciate it very much, but I'm still trying to be an information whore...
Still don't know all of the ratings on it. RMS @ 1 Ohm? Peak power (so I can pick out a capacitor..etc..)

Awesome, I'd like to avoid having to get a cap anyway. I guess that's the benefit of getting a nice efficient class D amp :D

Yeah, it's definitely a 125 amp. I replaced it last year.

Yeah I know that for matching amps and basically everything always by with RMS, but I wasn't sure for caps - so I decided to play it safe and go with the bigger number. Thanks a lot!

How about wiring? With the RA audio 800.1 (800 rms)what gauge will I likely need? I already have 8 gauge wire in my car, but I'm not sure thats heavy enough. Similar to fuses. I'm not sure what size fuse I have at the moment.
