I currently drive a '97 Honda Civic with a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X917 deck with factory speakers. Well the Kenwood deck died on me last week so now that I'm shopping I'm thinking of buying new speakers to go along with the deck. I've been looking at Alpine (CDE-9881) or Pioneer Premiere (DEH-P590IB) decks because I'm trying to keep the cost relatively low for a HU but still have good sq and the ability to control some things. I'd like to be able to keep the factory grills on the speakers so I'm sort of limited in that regard to the 3 way Kenwood KFC-1661S for the front 6.5" speakers and Boston Acoustics S95s for the rear deck. I'd like to do all of this without having to run new wires for an amp as well. My goal is to be able to have better control over my iPod in the car and also to have a good tight sounding system. I'm not looking for bass that will shatter my neighbors ears, just something that will play everything from classical to rock to rap. It might be asking to do all this without breaking my piggy bank but I'm looking for insight from you guys and hoping that you can lead me in the right direction. Thanks |

There not too expensive and the EQ will deff come in handy when you are switching from diff types of music. Only downside to Pioneer and ipods is that you have to buy an adaptor to run them for some models but, those are only like $20 extra. The Pioneer that you listed above would be a perfect choice for what you want and it also has the built in ipod adaptor. You can grab that model at sonicelectronix for $189 and get the instal parts for free http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_8567_Pioneer+Premier+DEH-P590iB.html |
