Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 259 Registered: May-06 | thats awesome mike. how many cu ft? How wide is your port, and how deep? Dimensions of box? Is this true: Q > BL ? |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 238 Registered: Nov-06 | SQ yes.. loudness no 36x20x15 3.25 inch port 4.27 cu ft @ 27 hz (it doesnt have to be anywhere near this big, i wanted SQL though) |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 239 Registered: Nov-06 | meaning the box is designed for AWESOME Sound Quality, and the ability to get LOUD when i crank it |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 260 Registered: May-06 | awesome. Whats the difference B/t the Q BL BTL & SSD, and which should I get if im looking to enhance the sound quality and loudness in a box similar to the one you got mike? |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 242 Registered: Nov-06 | i wouldnt know, ask scott from Fi I would recommend the Q I can give you the box design if you want to build it, its very easy, all 1/4 and 1/2inch cuts, nothing crazy What kind of car do u have? and what will you power it with? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 4057 Registered: Feb-06 | www.soundsolutionsaudio.com go to the fi forum and read evrything you need to know about them there. |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 261 Registered: May-06 | Acura Legend, the subs will be in an enclosed trunk, the seats dont fold down, it will most likely be powered by a kx1200.1. Also i just installed my type R's the other day in my newly build box. I have carpet for it, so i might carpet it and then sell those and see if i can get more out of it that i put in it. |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 243 Registered: Nov-06 | alright make a video of the R's i wanna see what you have goin on that amp would be perfect for the Q Dual 2 |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 262 Registered: May-06 | no video camera, and the amp i have now thats powering it is a kicker zx450.2. It still bumps, but its on ebay now, as soon as it sells i have the kx1200.1 on order, ill see how the R's sound once I get the amp and hopefully borrow a video recorder. Im just wondering if there will be more bump with the 1x 15" Fi sub than with 2x 12" Type R's. |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 245 Registered: Nov-06 | All depends on your box I think you'll be more happy with the Q I've heard 2 Type R's, I think my Q is WAY BETTER personally It could go either way in terms of loudness, but SQ the Fi Q wins hands down The Q gets loud while sounding clean.. most of the reason right there |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 153 Registered: Jan-07 | would you take a Fi Q over a dd3500d2? |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 248 Registered: Nov-06 | in SQ yes the Q, in SPL no Fi Q is great for a daily driver now if i wanted to compete id take the DD, but im not so i dont need that sub |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 154 Registered: Jan-07 | well im by no means competeing...i just want one 12 or 15" sub that will own my friends 13" W7. Also i want a sub that i can feed more power after i upgrade my alternator and battery and stuff. |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 250 Registered: Nov-06 | first off how many watts will u be powering the sub with? |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 263 Registered: May-06 | 15" FI Q > 13" JL W7 ?? |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 155 Registered: Jan-07 | i dont know ill probably start off powering it with a Sundown1500...but after i upgrade my electronics i will feed it more |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 251 Registered: Nov-06 | I never heard the W7... i wouldnt know the W7 is way over priced though |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 252 Registered: Nov-06 | Jordan whats your budget on the sub? |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 156 Registered: Jan-07 | well i mean i got like 1500 but with it im trying to get everything i will need (sub,amp,0/1 gauge wiring kit,and enclosure) |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 253 Registered: Nov-06 | hmm what subs i would get are the Fi Q 15" RE Audio SX15 TC Sounds 15" TC-3000 I chose the Fi Q myself because of the quality/performance for the best price I chose the Elemental Designs NINe.1 for quality/performance/5 yr warranty |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 157 Registered: Jan-07 | i have never heard of elemental designs...so im prolly gonna go with with the Fi Q |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 254 Registered: Nov-06 | i never heard of them either.. i chose them from advice if you ever have a problem you call them up and they fix your problem immediatley UPS scratched my amps and they sent out 2 replacements ASAP wenever i had a problem they always had a great solution, advice or answer you cant beat the 5 year warranty, they are Solid, Underated power amps (put out more power than stated) |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 255 Registered: Nov-06 | btw works perfectly with my Q 15 |
Silver Member Username: ReppinqcCharlotte, NC USA Post Number: 158 Registered: Jan-07 | ok so who sells the elemental designs...and what kinda power do they put out... |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 4058 Registered: Feb-06 | www.edesignaudio.com on a strong charging system, expect anywhere from 1300-1500wrms, few times ed told me several have gotten up to almost 1600w. |
Silver Member Username: LoudonPost Number: 974 Registered: Jun-04 | agreed with that ... nothing but solid power from those amps ... make sure ur charging system is upgraded tho or else u wont get the full effect as stated i did 140.1 with that sub. .. its capable of great response |
Gold Member Username: Extrmndor3IF U HEAR ME... crazydbs.com Post Number: 4562 Registered: Feb-06 | type r;s in a rigth install will murder a fi Q... but tyeha the fi q will rule the low end... but hey if u get two type r's and get a kick @ss box that tends to be more of a sq box than spl... the type r's will catch up with the sq while gettin louder than the fi Q |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 264 Registered: May-06 | i have 2 type r's in a ported box that measures 36 x 16 x 14 there are 2 ports, one on each side measuring 2.5 inches wide each, and they are in separate chambers. Will the R's in a box like that still murder a fi Q? (Given your using the same amp for both) |
Gold Member Username: Extrmndor3IF U HEAR ME... crazydbs.com Post Number: 4567 Registered: Feb-06 | 2 inches wide doesnt mean nuttin u have to find wat tunning its the box... but it looks like yeah it will be pretty good.... but hey dude phoenix gold octane r zrated have same loudness as type r but with MUCH more sq.... and alot less money i got 6 of them for sq in mind no loudness for me since i got mys hyt str8t for sq im a sq guy... go with the phoenix gold ull be better |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 265 Registered: May-06 | what should i tune the box to? I already have the R's, btw they in my trunk |
Gold Member Username: Extrmndor3IF U HEAR ME... crazydbs.com Post Number: 4571 Registered: Feb-06 | if u want creazy loudness the most u can do its 30 if u want to go to the extreme 28hz but it will be worthless.... try to make the box as big as possible.... bigger the box wider the low end |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 267 Registered: May-06 | the box is already made its the dimensions i stated above. |

Platinum Member Username: Chaunb3400Huntsville, Alabama U.S. Post Number: 12173 Registered: Jul-05 | yep |
Gold Member Username: Extrmndor3IF U HEAR ME... crazydbs.com Post Number: 4599 Registered: Feb-06 | is it a big diference or a smaller diference???? dammit i cant decide man does the q its a str8t sq sub right? and the bl its sql right? |
Silver Member Username: J_c_wheeler8Columbus, IN United States Post Number: 269 Registered: May-06 | the Q and BL are the same price. How would I choose if im looking for good sq as well as loudness? |
Silver Member Username: Mike11202DE US Post Number: 258 Registered: Nov-06 | I decided weather getting a Q or a BL in the first place.. like chauncey said the BL has ALMOST as much SQ as the Q and gets louder Now personally I like excursion and the Q blows it away 27mm one way while the BL has 21mm I wanted to lean more towards SQ so I chose the Q, but if you saw my videos (bad rattling, i didnt sound deaden the car yet) you know the 15" Q gets LOUD |
