New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 2 Registered: Apr-07 | I just recently bought the new Rockford Fosgate P500-2, 2 channel amplifier with a rated bridged power of 500x1 @ 4 ohms and a real power of 743x1 @ 4 ohms on the birth sheet. The sub that I bought is a T112d4, dual 4 ohm voice coil 12" subwoofer 600 rms and 1200 peak. With this sub it seems I can only wire it up to a 2 ohm or 8 ohm load. Ive talked to Rockford Fosgate and theyve told me to do the 8 ohm wiring but wont this reduce the power of my amplifier in half? Will I be able to run it at the 2 ohm wiring set up or will this fry my amp. Help would be greatly appreciated. |

New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 3 Registered: Apr-07 | If I run it with the 8 ohm, will this be enough power for the sub to sound good or will it not be enough. the birth sheet also has at the bottom a max power of 2229 watts? |
New member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 3 Registered: Apr-07 | can you run two 12 inch subs (1200 watt) off of a kicker 200.2 amp |
New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 4 Registered: Apr-07 | it depends upon what the amp is stable at ohm wise and the rms of the speakers and what the rms output, for example, i am screwed because my amp is 500 watts @ 1 channel stable at 4 ohms and the sub i have is a dual 4 ohm. this sub can only be wired with a 2 ohm or 8 ohm configuration. since my amp is stable at 4 ohms the 8 ohm configuration will reduce the power of my rms wattage in half due to the fact that the sub is supplying 8 ohms to a 4 ohm source, and with the 2 ohm setup it will double the power of my amp, this is sometimes ok if your amp can handle it but it is usually best to stick with the stable ohm power. If your two 12 inch subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils and ur amp is stable at 4 ohms then you can run them |

New member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 5 Registered: Apr-07 | how can i tell if the subs are dual 4 ohm voice coils and if they are how do you hook them up with the amp (picture if you have) |
Platinum Member Username: GlasswolfWisteria, Lane USA Post Number: 11918 Registered: Dec-03 | a single "dual 4 ohm coil" sub can be wired for either a 2 ohm or an 8 ohm load. if you want a 4 ohm load to present to an amp, you need a dual 2 ohm, or a single 4 ohm coil sub. |
New member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 6 Registered: Apr-07 | how would i go about hooking everything up to make it sound the best |
New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 5 Registered: Apr-07 | Simple answer....no duhh i bought the wrong sub, i already came up with that conclusion but thanx anyway. Well if you have two dual voice coil 4 ohm subs then here are your wiring options http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard.asp?submitted=true&woofer_qt y=1&woofer_imp=4 |

New member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 9 Registered: Apr-07 | and where do you connect it to the amp itself |
New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 7 Registered: Apr-07 | what type of amp is it? channels? watts? |
New member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 10 Registered: Apr-07 | kicker kx 200.2 |
New member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 10 Registered: Apr-07 | yea thats a 200 watt 2 channel amp, you must be new to this, ive never owned a kicker but on one of the sides there should be like 4 openings, positive and negative, they may be right beside each other or not, this is for two subs right? |
Bronze Member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 11 Registered: Apr-07 | yes its for two 1200 watt sony explodes and yes im new to this |
Bronze Member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 12 Registered: Apr-07 | I gotcha man, im here to help, it seems like that amp may not be strong enough to power those two but are those 1200 watts peak together or separate, would you happen to know the rms ratin on each subwoofer if not let me know what the model is |
Bronze Member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 12 Registered: Apr-07 | model number is xs-L120p5w |

Bronze Member Username: Phatmatt56Franklin, TN United States Post Number: 14 Registered: Apr-07 | Well it looks like your amp is 200 watts bridged and has been tested to produce like 239 and the subs you have are 1200 watts peak and 350 rms. Which really means that the amp you have can really only power one of the subs and with that it still cant really push the sub good enough since the max on the amp is less than the rms of the sub. This type of amp is really only made for one sub |
Bronze Member Username: Keith123123Post Number: 13 Registered: Apr-07 | what would be the best amp for both subs |
