Silver Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 521 Registered: Oct-06 | would i maybe get more?? and for 2000 wrms is a 200 amp alt fine? |
Silver Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 854 Registered: Nov-04 | Maybe more, don't think it's less. 200 amp should be ok for that when AC and headlights are off at least |
Silver Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 522 Registered: Oct-06 | what else could i do to make sure the lights dont dim or anything? is a biger ho alt. the only solution? |
Gold Member Username: CtmikeCt. Post Number: 3949 Registered: Feb-06 | upgrade the battery/add more and don't forget the big 3. |
Silver Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 855 Registered: Nov-04 | what mike said and HO alt are the only ways to go |
Silver Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 523 Registered: Oct-06 | alright well i will try the big 3 and a new battery or two and if i still dims then i will get a bigger ho alt. thanks guys |
Silver Member Username: OlegSanta Monica, CA USA Post Number: 856 Registered: Nov-04 | You're not understanding correctly. Big is to be done ONCE you have the HO alt AND the deep cycle battery, otherwise it's a waste of money and you won't really see any improvement. HO alt is first and foremost, everything else is a must once that's done. |
Silver Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 525 Registered: Oct-06 | no i understand...i already have a 200 amp alt. and my 1/0 awg wire for the big 3. i was just wondering if there was any other things i could do like a new battery in the back and under the hood. and what i ment is if all that fails to stop the dimming then i will just upgrade to a bigger ho alt. i just do want to have to buy a new one if i dont have you. sorry bout the confusion |
Gold Member Username: CarguyPost Number: 6110 Registered: Nov-04 | Go read about battery under the accessories section. Someone already asked about your situation. I think GW already said many times over, no need for 2nd battery nor expensive ones, unless you listen with car off. Battery does NOT generate power like the alternator. Therefor, the more you have, the more strain you'll put on the alternator. Did you even use a DMM to find out why it's dimming? If the voltage stays above 12.5v then you're fine. If it drops below that, then you've maxed out the alternator. |
