Wednesday, April 11, 2007 - 22:54 GMT is it fine to have box made out of 5/8" mdf. I know the preferred 3/4" .. but 5/8 is 0.625" only 0.125" less... does it really make a difference?

Thursday, April 12, 2007 - 00:11 GMT wouldn't it depend on what sub he has, if you have anything thats under 500rms i think it would be ok if you used a good amount of bracing.

Thursday, April 12, 2007 - 00:31 GMT Box size makes a big difference indeed. So does the sub. However most ppl here are bumpin' well over 500w. Drop a 1000w sub or greater into a 5/8" MDF box and watch what happens. And how much difference in price is it?? Unless you already have the 5/8", 3/4" all the way.
