Upgrading lead from alt. to batt. Quick question....

I'm upgrading up the alt. ground and lead to the battery, is it just a straight run between the two? Or does it need to be fused, etc. Thanks.

fuse the alternator to battery line with a fuse rated for the peak current capacity of the wire you use based on it'[s gauge.
this prevents an engine fire in case of a dead short
