I've had a Sony Xplode CDXM630 for about 2 years now. Its only been in my car for a total of two months though, as i had car problems for quite a while. My question is this, I've heard people express concern over the whole black-faceplate security feature of my stereo. And it make sense, as it doesn't completely appear that there is no stereo there. What do you think of this feature? I've been debating selling it and buying one with a removable face plate as I will be moving to a city in a couple months. There seems to knowledgeable people here, so I am hoping to get an answer. Thanx
If you were to look at another car with that head unit, would you know it was there? probably. That "security feature" is worthless. How many cars today DON'T have radios? Cars have had radios since the 50-60s. And almost all new cars have them in the same place, the center of the console. If I wanted that head unit, and saw the black panel in your car, I'd be smart enough to know it was a radio. Hope this helps. I like a detachable faceplate better. The only downside of a detachable faceplate that I saw was in my town, some girl got mad at her boyfriend and chunked the faceplate in the boondocks somewhere and it took him a long time of sending serial numbers, etc. to the company to get a replacement one.
