I have a 1990 Toyota Camry DX(Deluxe) and I took the factory stock stereo out and bought a Pioneer DEH-P2900MP version stereo a couple days ago and was wondering how in heck you would go about making it work, I mean I have got a diagram and everything for it and it tells me what wires on the Pioneer connect to which wires on the Camry, I connected the black(gound wire) to the brown wire, the Red(ACC/12V+ switched wire) to the gray wire, and the Yellow wire(12V+ constant) to the yellow/blue wire on the car but nothing happens, the radio will not power on, I can't figure what would be wrong.
This is the diagram I got form the internet....
The wiring for your car is as follows and wire in parenthesis is pioneer wire. Constant 12V+ Blue/Yellow (yellow) Switched 12V+ Gray (Red) Ground Brown (black) Illumination Green Dimmer n/a Antenna Trigger Black/Red Antenna Driver's Pillar Front Speakers 3 1/2" Dash Left Front (+) Pink (white) Left Front (-) Purple (White w black tracer) Right Front (+) Light Green (Gray) Right Front (-) Blue (Gray with black tracer) Rear Speakers 5 1/4" Rear Deck Left Rear (+) Black (green) Left Rear (-) Yellow (Green with black tracer) Right Rear (+) Red (Purple) Right Rear (-) White (Purple w black tracer)
But that doesn't seem to work, As I said I connected all the power wires(not the speaker wires yet though) to see if the Unit would power on, but it does not...Am I doing something wrong?
Thank you for any help or information you can provide me, It is greatly appreciated.
One way to get this figured out is to disconnect everything except for the power wires and see if it powers up. If it does, add on each wire at a time and see if any cause it to not turn on.
