My subwoofer enclosure isn't giving me the bass that I want... I have (2) JL Audio 12w3v2 d4's hooked up to a Metric Audio 1000w amp so I know they can kick harder than what there doing. I have a dual 12" box. Each side of the box has 1.25 cubic feet of air space before the sub is in it. I'm thinking that my box is to small for my subs. If I add some ports to my subwoofer box or something, do you think it will sound better? Or should I just make my own larger box.

that volume is fine for sealed subs.
try going to a ported box with 2cu ft per sub, using 4" ID ports tuned to 34Hz.
should improve dramatically.

fire it to the rear.

if you want to keep it like that then seal the space around the box so its sealed from the trunk.

do either of those and you should hear a big imporvement.
