for the price difference is the mag any better than the Q ..given that they were both powered properly and in optimal installs and i was looking for SQL (more towards the SQ side) ..
Those guys that did the great 12" shootout or whatever said something like "those who think that the Fi Q is basically a Si Mag haven't been paying attention". They went on to say that the Mag was one of the most impressive subs they have ever tested and beats the Q in several categories. The Q did take the spl category at a few different frequencies though...
Worth the load of extra cash? Not to me, but it will be to some people.
I have a mag sitting in my floor as well as a Q....The only people that i no of that prefer the mag are the people who actually paid twice the price...for a lesser driver..jmo
i have heard both and as much as i liked the mag after hearing the q i couldn't see spending the extra money on the mag. almost equal sq but with spl taken by the q, as well as sq, at half the price, easy choice to me.
The MAG does have better SQ than the Q in the correct box for the MAG. The Q sounds good, and does get little louder than MAG, but not loud enough that the human ear can detect it. After goign over the RMS rating on the MAG and the Q, the MAG maintains great SQ while the Q looses its SQ and gains little more SPL. If you want a high quality SQ sub, then the MAG is the way to go. If you want a sub with good SQ and little cheaper, go with the Q. If wanted, check out the SI BM's, they get pretty loud and sound good as well ported. 2 BM 12's ported are louder than 2 MAG 12's sealed

i love my mag, in 1.25sealed with polyfill. its very accurate. personally i dont see it being worth the 450 it retails for though. trying it in a ported box this weekend
Switching from a Mag to the Q very soon. No complaints about it at all. In fact, if SI made an 18" Mag there wouldn't have been any debate in my mind. I just wanna hear an 18".
