Silver Member Username: JoebruceU.S.A. Post Number: 480 Registered: May-04 | Would this work? It was for a BL but i need the box to be at most 45(L)x24(T)x12(D) cuz i have an x-cab s10 http://www.subwoofertools.com/forum/ported-box.asp?Ew=45&Eh=24&Dia=9&Xmax=21&Vd= 0.18&NumW=1&Vb=4.5&Fb=38&Qts=&Vas=&Fs=&CE=0 |

Silver Member Username: Snarl2004Audioque 12 SD2.5s, Earthquake P... Post Number: 663 Registered: Dec-06 | alright heres wut u should do: sub facing forward and vent facing up 3.5 total ft^3 outside dimensions=12(D)x24(T)x27(L) inside dimensions=10.5(D)x22.5(T)x25.5(L) for the port=10.5(D)x5.5(L) tunes to 40hz...has 56 sq inches of port ^^^^^make the port go down into the box 16 inches. u might have to change these a little depending on how many rms ur giving it |
Silver Member Username: JoebruceU.S.A. Post Number: 482 Registered: May-04 | Well i dont have the sub yet but i wanna get it when i get my tax money. But when i get it i will be running a mb quart raa1000 to it at 1ohm getting 1000w rms untill i can afford a bigger amp. I was thinking either a nine.1,massive 1500.1,cadence daytona 1600.1,or when the time comes if i can afford it a sundown 1500. So what do you think of that box? Its 4.5 q ft. What is a good tuning freq.? |
Silver Member Username: JoebruceU.S.A. Post Number: 483 Registered: May-04 | Why only 3.5 ft^3? That seems kinda small for a 15 i was thinking at least 4^ ft^3 |
Silver Member Username: Snarl2004Audioque 12 SD2.5s, Earthquake P... Post Number: 664 Registered: Dec-06 | did you look at the dd page i listed above? this sub will work from 3-5ft^3 3.5 will be plenty if ur only putting 1000 rms to it. if ur gunna put 1500 to it in the future then ide make it about 4 and i would go much bigger then that unless ur putting 2000+ to it. i have 2 12" SD2.5's in a 5 ft^3 box tuned at 42 and they sound great. if ur gunna get the new amp then ide make a 4ft^3 box and then u would need 64sq inches of port. u could go up to 4.25 or 4.5 but i think thats a waste |
Bronze Member Username: DjlPost Number: 39 Registered: Sep-06 | I will be the first to tell you that DD/AQ subs do not lend themselves to box modeling programs. That's why we don't publish all of the ts specs. We design our subs around the box sizes and port tuning we recommend. Our subs like 16 sq" of port opening per net cubic foot of box volume and 16" of port length for 40Hz tuning. Each model series of the same basket size will work in the same box. 10" subs like 1.2-1.5 cubes. 12" subs like 1.7-2.5 cubes. 15" subs like 3-4.5 cubes. |
Silver Member Username: JblanfordPost Number: 586 Registered: Oct-06 | dj how would my hd3 15" do in a box at 4.2 cuft net at 40hz with 4 4" aero's ? |
Bronze Member Username: DjlPost Number: 40 Registered: Sep-06 | You would be a little shy on port area but should work fine. The aero's seem to work on a little less port opening area. If you could make the aero's external and adjustable it's easy to change the tuning. |
Silver Member Username: JblanfordPost Number: 588 Registered: Oct-06 | yeah i should have added they were external |

Post Number: 665 Registered: Dec-06 | DJ, my friend is thinking about getting 2 15" SD2.5's and he will be giving them about 800rms for daily driving. will they be able to handle it. also how much power for daily driving can they handle. thanks |
Silver Member Username: JblanfordPost Number: 591 Registered: Oct-06 | btw sorry for threadjacking |
Bronze Member Username: DjlPost Number: 42 Registered: Sep-06 | The should be fine if he doesn't clip the signal. I don't like to give a figure on how much power you can give a sub because that depends on the application and skill of the enduser. We are conserative in our ratings but have no control over the skills of the enduser. |
