Need Help With Box

I have a one 12 in. Alpine Type E subwoofer. I want to build a box myself. I will build a sealed box made from 3/4 inch plywood.

My problem is i dont know what size i should make the box. Can anyone help me out and tell me what i need to do to build the correct size box for my sub. The specs for the sub are listed below.....

This will be the first of dozens of "don't use plywood" posts. Use MDF and search for free box building programs online, or get one of the guys here to build you a box. We have at least 3 resident box-builders.

why plywood?

Recommended Sealed Box Volume : 0.6 - 1.25 cu. ft.

Plywood might give you problems.. im not sure but IMO go with mdf or birch or somthing.

most birch you will buy is actually a plywood like i use a 13ply birch sheet

How do you figure out the box volume?

nvm i was thinking of particle wood for some reason lol, to get the box volume you do lengthxwidthxhieght (interior measurements) if you measure form the outside you need to subtract the wood thickness from all sides... also you need to figure out the displacment of the sub... and make the box big enough so the size is right after the sub is added. and if you port the box... more displacments to add

go to www.cruthfield.com , if you look around for one of their tutorials on how to make a box. they made a box for a sealed type E, but i think it was a 10 inch. but you can go there and get an idea or w/e. fasho.

just make it 13x13x13, use 3/4 mdf and seal if up well.

^^^that's assuming they include speaker displacemt in there reccommended size

i actually just got done an hour ago 14x14x14 perfect fit, hookin the amp and radio up tommrow.
