What do you think would be better, more powerful, the MA Audio HK 4000D or the Hifonics XX Colossus, which would you get?? Thanx.

Out of those two amps I would get the Hifonics XX-Colossus. My opinion

MA Audio needs 17 volts for rated power.

Hifonics XX-Colossus needs 14.4 volts for rated power.

I've seen the Hifonics XX Colossus run and it was pretty impressive for the money.I've never seen that MA amp run though so...I just thought I'd say that Colossus is a pretty solid amp.

Go with HIFONICS. MA Audio amps aren't that great.

Kool thanx guyz i really appreciate all the input, another question, how big is the colossus really, some say its 30 inches, some say its 40, does anyone know the real size of it?? I could get a moded HK 4000D for $399, should i go with the HK, the cheapest i could get the xx colossus is $700, both are on sonicelectronix, but i think the HK4000d is like $900 there.

Q's for SQL.
BL's for SPL.

I'm quite sure that's how it goes, although I have been out of it for awhile. Someone correct me if I'm wrong :-)

That amp kit will be fine, but you also need some RCA cables with that. You will most likely need a high output alt to ensure the amp gets enough power, otherwise you're risking blowing your car's charging system and even breaking your stereo equipment. Yellow tops by Optima (people also use kinetik, stinger, etc) are deep cycle batteries, which don't get damaged after a few times of complete discharge, like regular batteries do. This allows you to play your stereo while the car's off and if used as a starter battery, you won't have a problem with a dead battery. Both, alternator and deep cycle battery, are pretty much essential with your setup.

I got my yellow top from autozone for $180 or so, but they have them on eBay cheaper - be sure to check for the size that you need. If you get a high output alternator, which everyone here recommends, you'll just replace your stock battery with the yellow top, upgrade the "big 3," and you'll be all set.

Big 3 is:

1) Battery negative to chassis
2) Alternator to battery positive
3) Chassis to engine
