32 hz is probably best... i drove around with my box tuned to 52hz then 45 hz then 35 hz the best i think is 35hz but 45 gets loudest 52 sounds like str8t up sh!t
thanks. ya my box is already tuned to 42 but im thinking about making an insert for it and i was jw wut to tune it to. also would there be a big differance?
that was at a car show and he had it sitting out there just jamming for hours, didnt compete that day, said he competed once but was disapointed cause hes running a 2000ish watt audioburn amp...
Depends on what you are looking for.. If you want it decently loud, and are using round ports then go with the 42hz tune, it will hit low when you want it anyways. Now if you are going with a square or slot port then I will go with the lower tune but be prepared to add more power to keep the same level of loudness... JMHO.. Polo.
you best put a high pass filter at 38Hz and forget hitting any low notes unless you want to bottom that out when you hit 25, even 30Hz notes.
you're going to have very asymmetric excursion before and after tuning an a very ugly frequecny response that will start with a peak and .... thats it.
42hz is not a subwoofer anymore. I can hit that with midrange drivers in a big box....
IF you want more SPL, get a better driver or better yet, get two. don't use useless alignments like 42hz bass-reflex, lol...
damn and i thought my 50hz prefab box i had a long time ago was tuned high..still have them somwhere lying around... but that box did get loud as Fu<k on a few notes.. for audioburn immortals in a 1.25cu 50hz (2 subs 2 boxes) running 1ohm 2Krms... it hurt my ears pretty bad.. and made my ex gf's cousin ear bleed... but i think thats cuz he had some problem with it from a airplane.. his ears are kinda sensitive to air pressure\sound pressure...
OT - Air pressure flows from High to low preesure areas right... so say your in a part of the world with a higher pressure then another and you go to a different comp... would your system show any DB difference due to the pressure changes... because i mean SPL is basically air pressure still jsut at different freq. and that its a hella lot more pressure... complicated question? does it deserve its own thread :-p
but then if u think about it.. the xmax being so high i wouldnt be sure if it can produce those freq. that thing would be moving fast as FU<K ... like realllllllly fast
400dB could probably d...,
SouthWest Mi...
Too Many DBs...

Well it's 20 times a millisecond so I guess that's the millisecond version of 20hz. If you have enough amp power, I suppose it's possible... You can accellerate a manhole cover fast enough to do 30hz probably.
Kyle... You stupid... We aren't talking about Kicker's here, lol. If your sub can't handle running between 25-50hz you need to buy a quality sub, for real! A 42hz tune will come out to be around 38hz in vehicle due to the interior/panel flex, etc. A sub tuned to low is just a waste of energy in my opinion but to actually say you will ruin your sub running it at 25hz when it is tuned 42hz is just real stupid...
