Gold Member Username: Mikechec9Post Number: 2529 Registered: May-05 | This is JL's upcoming HD line. The one on top is a HD 600/4 (4ch) and the bottom one is a HD600/1(monoblock). JL has a research program at the University of California that designed a different type of high efficiency switching technology (a type of class D). It's similar to ICE technology, but it's exclusively licensed. They are also using the tech in the home audio powered monitors, so it promises to be...expensive. The slash amps are the current big boys. They are designed by Bruce Macmillan, the same guy who created the PPI ART and the 2350DM, which is quite similar to the slash amps w/ .r.i.p.s. tech in that they had two "gears" so they could be optimized for 2 or 4 ohm per channel operation. Anyhow, the Slash amps are a wonderful design. So these HD's should make for some very intriguing trump cards for JL. I'm not a believer of "full range" class D amps at all, but if anyone can do it right, I believe it would be JL. |
