Help fixing an amp please

my friend gave me an amp that he had that stopped working and inside it looks like it has 3 resistors and 1 cap fried now i was going to replace them and see if that worked but i was wondering what power supply could i use w/o haveing to hook it up to a car. Would function generator work? or anything?

yes, a dc voltage supply. make sure you set the supply to 12v if it is variable.

do i need to use bigger wires or will the standard wires on the power supply work

these may be stupid questions but i have never used anything other than a car battery but i dont want to get one just to test it

yes the power supply wires will be good enough. Just remember that while you are testing it to not turn the volume up too much. the power suplly probably doesnt put out enough juice to run a speaker at high volume.

yeah i wasnt even going to hook speakers up i just wanted to see if the amp would turn on
