I just won 250 bucks in a superbowl pool so my financial situation feels a bit more comfy and i wanna start installing my system ASAP...this is how things are looking so far...

-My 99' JGC's "premium" infinity sound system with external amp.(installed and working properly)

-2 12" arsenals dual 4 ohm coils (sitting on bedroom floor)

-Elemental Designs nine.1 1200+watt amp (paid for; being shipped to me by Logan tomorrow)

-38hz ported box just over 4 cubes (haven't bought yet...tuning too high?)

-Pioneer Premier 680mp (haven't bought yet)

So i'm looking for advice on what kinda amp kit i should get for this setup? 2ga? 4ga? Certain types of wires or fuses i need to make sure i get??

Also how is the Jeep's infinity speaker system with the external amp gonna affect the installation process?

All advice/info is welcomed and appreciated.

I don't know specifically how the jeep's stock system works, but I have never seen a stock amp that was compatible with an aftermarket HU.

Those stock amps can have weird inputs, built in crossovers and a whole lot of other crap.

My bet is that you will have to either:
1) Upgrade your amp and speakers OR
2) Don't upgrade your HU
I would recommend option 1.

As for the wiring you can never have too large a wire. But I would use 2 awg, 4 awg is pushing it for 1200+ watts.

what if i ditched the stock "premium" amp and speakers, and got new speakers to run off of the 680mp...think that would just simplify the whole process??

btw Joe do you currently have the stock infinity still with a separte amp for your subs...or have you upgraded since then?

Sure that would work. But, I would recommend getting a good set of components and an amp for them. There is a huge difference in SQ between a real amplifier and a HU internal amp. Also, HU amps have very little power and may not be loud enough for you with all the bass from your subs. If you do decide to go the route of connecting your new speakers to your HU, keep in mind that you will have to run wires for them as the stock wiring is run to the stock amp.

My last post was in reference to the one you posted at 11:36.

And yes that looks to me like a very complete kit.

Well i'm thinkin i'm gonna get some decent speakers and run them off the HU at first...

...i've really started to stretch my budget more than i wanted to and i don't wanna think about buying ANOTHER amp right now just for the speakers. Especially since i'm trying to do all this on stock electrics.

I'm not THAT worried about the bass drowning out the speakers cuz the ednine.1 is really gonna leave the arsenals somewhat underpowered, and i'll probly never turn em' up to fullpower. The subs are really capable of more bass than i need...i got them because they were a great deal.

But seriously, it sounds like your gonna have a nice system. And you can always get an amp for the speakers later when you have the money. One more thing I will recommend: If you do expect to add another amp later, you may want to run the power wire for it now. That way you won't have to take apart the interior of your car twice. Just my .02

As far as kits go, I think Rockford makes some of the best kits, IMO. They are expensive, but durable!

What would i do differently to "run the power wire" for a future amp now?

btw thanks for taking time to give me advice...i'm pretty much an amateur with installs but i promise it's starting to make more and more sense.

I just meant that you may want to think about putting in the power wire --and RCA cables come to think of it-- now, that way you wouldn't have to take off interior trim and pull up carpet two times to run your wires. In the future if you want to add an amp for the speakers, the wiring will already be there.
