Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 30 Registered: Jan-07 | anyone know if these are actually of any decent quality? this is all i can fit in my trunk since i have limited space in there due to convertible top... i'm thinking of putting 2 of these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pioneer-1200-Watt-12-Subwoofer-Shallow-Sealed-box _W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38646QQihZ007QQitemZ170074455175QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZW D1V but the thing is... is it even worth it? should i even bother? will i hardly hear anything anyways? |

Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 31 Registered: Jan-07 | okay so if i put two pioneer TS-SW3041D... what would that compare to? i'm afraid i'll put in the $170 for the subs and then $170 for the amp and i won't feel a thing, or they'll just blow or something, they sound so cheap thoughts? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 169 Registered: May-06 | Or Kicker. http://www.kicker.com/06/kicker_home.html |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 32 Registered: Jan-07 | what do you think would be the highest quality (spl and sql): the kickers, the infinitys or the pioneers? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 170 Registered: May-06 | If you put them in the right box and power it with the right amp with gain set properly, I dont see why it would sound good. Pioneer makes some well built shyt. Just do a google search on those subs and read all the reviews. |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 171 Registered: May-06 | Spl - Pioneers Sql - Infinity |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 33 Registered: Jan-07 | i'm assuming the kicker ones you mean are the 10" compvx's |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 172 Registered: May-06 | CompVT |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 36 Registered: Jan-07 | okay i want the quality over power, so i'll go with two of the infinity kappa's... thanks so much woofer... what should i use to power them that's good quality? they are: power range: 50-350 watts RMS (1400 watts peak power) ________________________________ also: i have 7 1/4" maximum vertical height in my trunk, will the infinitis plus the size of the box they're in still be able to make it under a total of 7 1/4" ? |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 37 Registered: Jan-07 | would this box be good for housing the infinity: http://cgi.ebay.com/12-REG-CAB-TRUCK-SUB-BOX-U-ENCLOSURE-4-SUBWOOFER-NEW_W0QQite mZ140076487106QQihZ004QQcategoryZ50568QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |

Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 39 Registered: Jan-07 | damn nevermind that dual one, my trunk isn't that wide |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 175 Registered: May-06 | It would be a tight fit. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 40 Registered: Jan-07 | damnit all these boxes are 20" wide and my trunk is only 36" wide so i don't know how i'd fit two of these infinity's in there |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 176 Registered: May-06 | Whats your price range for the amp, and are you gettin to subs or one? Those sub are 5" deep. Your mounting these with the subs facin up? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 177 Registered: May-06 | I meant two subs? |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 41 Registered: Jan-07 | woofercooker: would it just be better to get two BAZOOKA BTA10200 10" AMPLIFIED 200 WATTS enclosures and put them in my trunk instead of the dual infinity setup. the bazookas will fit, but i have a good feeling that no one ever talks about them because they're terrible? but i'm not sure |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 178 Registered: May-06 | You could get two boxes and put them top to top. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 42 Registered: Jan-07 | in response to your post above, my price range is not an issue for the amp as long as it's under $300, i don't care how i mount them, but i seriously don't think i'll be able to fit two of those in my trunk if it's 36" wide, 7 1/4" vertical with the last 8" or so being about being twice that height. so now i'm thinkin about those bazookas unless you knwo away around all this? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 180 Registered: May-06 | No. I would get the Infinity Basslink before I would get the bazooka, but no. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 44 Registered: Jan-07 | wait a minute, i'm seeing a way i can position everything so it works. but i'd have to put each one of the infinity's in their own box... will that greatly reduce the sound? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 181 Registered: May-06 | "but i seriously don't think i'll be able to fit two of those in my trunk if it's 36" wide, 7 1/4" vertical with the last 8" or so being about being twice that height. so now i'm thinkin about those bazookas unless you knwo away around all this?" Explain this a bit better H x W x D |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 182 Registered: May-06 | That is what I just said. It would sound the same. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 46 Registered: Jan-07 | hmm okay i'll do that, thanks so much i really appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions, so i have one last one for you amp suggestions? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 183 Registered: May-06 | Give me a min and I will suggest some amps. Why are you goin with a truck style box? Why not a hatch back style? |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 47 Registered: Jan-07 | i'm not sure what you mean by hatch back style, but that box i showed you (http://cgi.ebay.com/12-REG-CAB-TRUCK-SUB-BOX-U-ENCLOSURE-4-SUBWOOFER-NEW_W0QQite mZ140076487106QQihZ004QQcategoryZ50568QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) fits in my trunk so that's all i know, are you saying there is something else that would fit? maybe you mean this (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CAR-AUDIO-DUAL-12-WOOFER-REAR-FIRE-HATCH-SUB-BOX-U_W0QQi temZ140076549354QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14945QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) but that vertical mounting depth is too high anyway |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 184 Registered: May-06 | http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_4336.html http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7559.html http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16918 One of those with two Infinity KAPPA122.7W wired down to 2ohms. Go with the kick. There are some more out there, but ive got to go to work, so maybe someone else can suggest a few. I will be back on later tonight. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 48 Registered: Jan-07 | that kicker is a mono amp though, doesn't that mean i can only power one of the infinity's off of it? so what you're saying is get two of those kickers? i think that's too expensive to get two of those for these cheap little subs, no? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 185 Registered: May-06 | Yeah that type of box would be better because they are usually deeper and not as wide. Also the angle is on the back side. This is so you can face the subs backwards and push the back of the bow against the seat. A truck style box has the angle on the front. |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 186 Registered: May-06 | No you just need one. You just wire the subs in paralell. Just do a google search on how to change ohm load and wiring sub series or paralell. If you cant figure it out, I will be back on at about 11:00pm pacific. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 49 Registered: Jan-07 | do you think i should just power them both off of this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-ZX850-2-TWO-CHANNEL-CAR-AMPLIFIER-AMP-2-ZX_W0QQit emZ290075029634QQihZ019QQcategoryZ48598QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 187 Registered: May-06 | Im not understanding why you need a shallow mount sub if your puttin this in your trunk. Were you tryin to match the sub to the truck style enclosure? |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 188 Registered: May-06 | "do you think i should just power them both off of this:" http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-KICKER-ZX850-2-TWO-CHANNEL-CAR-AMPLIFIER-AMP-2-ZX_W0QQit emZ290075029634QQihZ019QQcategoryZ48598QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem No!!!! |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 50 Registered: Jan-07 | because my trunk is 7 1/4" tall. i have a convertible and the convertible housing shelf takes up 99% of the trunk space leaving me with a vertical depth of 7 1/4" |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 189 Registered: May-06 | You will be wiring the subs together making it one channel(mono) at 2ohms. |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 190 Registered: May-06 | Ok well the sub require .5-1.0 cuft sealed. So what ever box you get that fits your car just make sure that its .5-1.0. Thats the only thing you will have to worry about with the sealed enclosure, that and get a box that allows you to face the subs towards the back of the car. And try to get a box with 3/4 mdf. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 51 Registered: Jan-07 | k so i'll go with the kicker suggestion then http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16918 |
Silver Member Username: BudlingCali USofA Post Number: 191 Registered: May-06 | That amp will be perfect for those subs. |
Bronze Member Username: NitrofourPost Number: 52 Registered: Jan-07 | ok then it's settled. let's hope these shallow speakers don't distort and sound like crap |
