Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 1823 Registered: Mar-06 | That is the nicest unit Ive seen here. Hows that compare to A Denon? |
Silver Member Username: Impala63ragPost Number: 368 Registered: Sep-06 | O.K. , nobody said it for me so I'll have to ask. What makes it so special that is worth a $1000.00 for a cd player? Might sound like a dumb question, but i really wanna know. No lcd, No navigation, No san disk slot, No usb port, No flip face, doesn't even look that great. Please enlighten me. |
Silver Member Username: Nd4spd18Post Number: 193 Registered: Jul-06 | ^^^^ My thoughts exactly -- only 3 volt outputs? |
Gold Member Username: WingmanaliveNj US Post Number: 3030 Registered: Jun-06 | Thank Gawd! I've been afraid to post thinking the same thing. Somehow I thought I was telaported to the 80's looking at that HU. I'm not into HU's so be gentle please. Must be nice, but tell us why?![]() |
Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 1826 Registered: Mar-06 | In laymans terms. its like listening to a pyle subwoofer, clipping compared to listening to a W6 tuned. Very accurate sound dublication. If you played a cd of glass breaking, it would sound real. Its just very well defined audio signals. Very accurate at reproducing music they way it was originaly recorded. Very low stereo separation, High signal to noise ratio. High dynamic range. That help? |
Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 316 Registered: Jun-06 | i have never heard a denon but this might help... http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/showthread.php?threadid=121657&pagenumber=6 |

Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 317 Registered: Jun-06 | and i think the 80's look is very pimp. way cooler than most things out there today. |

Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 1827 Registered: Mar-06 | http://www.audiocar.pl/galeria/denon-z1/z1.htm That link gave it an unflattering review. But Hey, its in the top 5 |

Gold Member Username: Tdeaton1021Near Tampa, Florida USA Post Number: 3692 Registered: Sep-04 | is it REALLY worth it though? as a collectale I'm sure... but i just bought an alpine d900 which is when alpine made awesome stuff. proably the best Hu they made besides F1 status.... and its got the highest resolution screen of any in dash dvd player and it plays extremely clear and i dont think it clips at all even at full volume. oh and its as good as new... not a single scratch on it. and I paid 600. |
Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 321 Registered: Jun-06 | yes i would say it is worth it for me, because i don't really care about the lcd and built in touch screen, and i don't mean to disappoint you but i believe the 7909 or 7909j was the best unit besides the f#1. I love sound quality. I like to hear everything and im sure there is stuff on cds that most normal cd players cant read. And i want to hear that stuff, and another thing sometime next year im gonna try and enter some sq comps, just to give it a shot. |
Gold Member Username: JohnfiacIL Afghanistan,... Post Number: 1166 Registered: Mar-06 | wow man whats so good about that HU for it to cost that much? even if its bad@ss it cant power my subs without a amp.. i would never pay 1100 for a HU eccpecilly when its used.. can the sq really be that much better with that thing? |
Silver Member Username: Lil_jonPost Number: 407 Registered: Jul-05 | dan no disrespect but can that thing even play burnt cds? I would love to have it but if I had to buy all my cds out the store I would have spent well over 30k |
Gold Member Username: JohnfiacIL Afghanistan,... Post Number: 1179 Registered: Mar-06 | would really suck if it doesnt |
Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 322 Registered: Jun-06 | yes it does play burned cds, but not mp3s, but i will buying HDCDs anyway. |
Silver Member Username: Skibum12189Cleveland Post Number: 168 Registered: Mar-06 | yea i dont know anything about that HU except it must be phenomenal the way you guys are ravin about it....but, like some others, a ton of my music is either on my ipod or on burned cdr's, wouldn't it be pointless to get that HU unless you only play perfectly unscratched bought original cd's....JW, idk i see it as like not doing it justice...am i wrong or like i dont get it...dan rollins do you only play original cd's or like how are you gonna do that thing justice if its so great...again i dont know anything about it, soo... |
Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 323 Registered: Jun-06 | well, i mean you wont hear a BIG difference if the cd is scratched, or if you do hear a difference it would be slight. I am going to treat it like any other HU, but im gonna try and find some HDCDs. But you will probably hear a difference with downloaded music, than music right out of the store. and again i am still gonna lay cd-rs. But I will try and get as many cds as possible. |
Silver Member Username: Th3pwn3rChicago, Illinois U.S.A Post Number: 941 Registered: Jul-06 | I've only heard a Mcintosh setup once and I was not impressed. For the money it was not worth it, not even close. The setup consisted of a HU,amp and speakers all by Mcintosh.I wouldn't waste the money.I hope it's what you want though ![]() |
Silver Member Username: DannyboyyPeterborough, NH USA Post Number: 324 Registered: Jun-06 | well, i have read very good things about the HU and the amps and speakers are nice but just a little bit pricey for my tastes. there is no doubt in my mind that this thing isn't going to rock my world, and if i have to listen to my jvc HU with the s's slurring on my tweeters for much longer im going to flip out! |
Silver Member Username: Lil_jonPost Number: 408 Registered: Jul-05 | well thats good it plays burnt cds Because I have had alpines in the past that have better sq then todays alpines head units but wont play burnt cds so they have to. Alpine use to make some awesome stuff |
