Bronze Member Username: ChodeczPost Number: 21 Registered: Sep-04 | Hi guys, I know you probably get a lot of these stupid posts asking for miracles for little money, etc. But I would just like to know what some of you really experienced guys would buy if you wanted ULTIMATE SPL for $750. Btw... $750 to spend on 2nd hand sub(s) off eBay and to build an enclosure. One 15" sub or maybe two? What power, etc. What enclosure spec? I read ages ago how Glasswolf got extreme bass out of some old Cerwin Vega subs for little money, don't suppose anyone (or him) could offer me advice to achieve similar results. I know you really experienced guys will want to keep valuable knowledge/secrets to yourselves, and not give it easily out to newbies. But I am a platinum member here and am really into car audio, I'm even considering enroling in a sound tech degree at uni. Drop me a line on MSN messenger (chodecz@hotmail.com) if you want. ANY advice will be greatly appreciated. P.S. I would like the bass SQ to be acceptable for a daily driver. |

Here is what i would go: 1) go ahead and hold ~$100 to build your own box. 2) use the remaining $650 on sub(s)....call DD and order a 9515F. |

Bronze Member Username: ChodeczPost Number: 23 Registered: Sep-04 | Thanks for the replies guys!! I'll be either powering the sub(s) with a total of 1200wrms or 1600wrms.. no more. |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 254 Registered: Dec-06 | You really can't power a $750 sub with that many watts. You'd be better of spending some of that money on a better amp... |
Gold Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Post Number: 2834 Registered: Jan-05 | with that amount of power i'd say get a AA havoc, comparable to the 9500, but needs less power. |
Bronze Member Username: ChodeczPost Number: 24 Registered: Sep-04 | Any more power and i'll need to upgrade my electrical system I'm sure 1600wrms is ample if the enclosure is well suited. How do you guys rate Shocker Extreme 15" subs??? |
Gold Member Username: CenusHicksville, Ohio Post Number: 2837 Registered: Jan-05 | a shocker xtreme would be comparable a DD3500 series, i'd say in a good box with plenty of power easily do low 140's. |
Bronze Member Username: ChodeczPost Number: 25 Registered: Sep-04 | I have been offered a 2nd hand 15" Shocker for about $160,, would that money be better spent on a DD sub??? |
Bronze Member Username: camPost Number: 72 Registered: Nov-06 | the ed 13av.2? that thing looks like a monster. if it was me i would just use the money you're gonna save to get a ho alternator and batteries n all that stuff. two of those 13av.2 each on a nine.1 would be pretty sweet. |

Well i dont know of any sub that is over 500 each that has an rms at 1600 or less. It kinda sucks buying a powerful sub and not having the juice for it. Either get plans to upgrade electrical and amp or just get cheaper but it may not be as loud as you want. When you ask for "ULTIMATE SPL" you need a high powered amp too. For what you have to power with I think a good sub for you would be a RE XXX or a new FI Q. Great subs just not the ultimate. |
