Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 191 Registered: Dec-06 | Hey all...I have a favor to ask anyone who is willing to help. I currently have a 12" Kicker L7 (dual 4 ohm) in a sealed box, which I know is not doing it justice. I would like to gain some experience with building a ported box, as I have done sealed for all my other systems. I would like to build a ported one for the Kicker. That way, this summer when I get my SUV, I'll have some experience before building a ported for one or two 15" Fi Q's. I have no intention of keeping the Kicker, so I will not carpet it or anything. So would anyone be willing to either help me with the designs, or shoot a quality website out to me? Also, any other pointers would be awesome (other than 3/4" MDF ) The L7 is an older model like the one at the bottom of the page. Thanks for all the help! It's greatly appreciated! http://cgi.ebay.com/KICKER-SOLOBARIC-S12L7-L7-12-Car-Stereo-Subwoofer-Sub_W0QQit emZ220073138495QQihZ012QQcategoryZ39777QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |

Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 197 Registered: Dec-06 | That's awesome...that means I'll be able to sell it to some kid back at home for a hell of a lot lol. I only paid $60 for it like a year ago. Some subs do sound better being sealed right? Or is ported better for all? |
Gold Member Username: Logan__tille[:-]15 Wangers Club[:-] Premier Member Post Number: 4876 Registered: Feb-06 | yea, some subs do. But not any kicker subs, there not made for sealed. |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 198 Registered: Dec-06 | One question I feel really dumb for asking, but gotta do it Which direction will the port face and where will the sub cutout be? |
Gold Member Username: Logan__tille[:-]15 Wangers Club[:-] Premier Member Post Number: 4877 Registered: Feb-06 | the port will be to the side. The in the front...(yellow line). |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 199 Registered: Dec-06 | OK...thanks. With every box I have every done, I have screwed the whole thing together. I have gotten the feeling on this board that this is the wrong way to go about the process, since the screws are near the edge. What is the best way of securing the box? Just use wood glue with no screws-use clamps? Also, any bracing, resin coating, or caulking neccesary on the interior? |

Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 200 Registered: Dec-06 | It didn't bump... |
Silver Member Username: MgbcsLincoln, Nebraska Post Number: 202 Registered: Dec-06 | OK...no bracing neccesary at all? |
