Gold Member Username: J_baby15Kentucky Post Number: 1156 Registered: Feb-06 | just wondering. but on my next box, if i was to build it of MDF, resin the inside, and put a few coats on the outside, then sand it nice and smooth. If i painted over the resin would it give it the nice shiny look like fiberglass has? kebo, how much did the resin cost? Nice box BTW. |
Gold Member Username: SouthernrebelMonroe, Louisiana DD 9515d~~]... Post Number: 4022 Registered: Mar-04 | kebo, what brand of resin did you use? I use Bondo brand and its darker colored. That stuff you are using looks like it may be alil thinner and easier to work. |
Gold Member Username: BestmankindWww.15inchwangers.com Post Number: 9333 Registered: Oct-05 | question..... what happens if you use a little too much hardner? |
Gold Member Username: Mr_keboAlbertville, Al USA Post Number: 1139 Registered: Nov-04 | well if you use enough "Too Much" sh1t will start smoking and set up way fast lol. The resin i use now is made by elmers. Avaliable at lowes i bought this cause i got it for 6 dollars a can cause it was all beat to death and i work there lol. Very easy to work with. |
Gold Member Username: FrkkevinResonant Engineering..., Fort Worth... Email Post Number: 2687 Registered: Nov-05 | itll harden too quick to apply it that and youll not have enough hardener for the next batch.. hehe |
Bronze Member Username: Snarl2004Post Number: 83 Registered: Dec-06 | what happens if you make a box out of mdf board and you dont use and resin? |
Gold Member Username: BestmankindWww.15inchwangers.com Post Number: 9334 Registered: Oct-05 | lol ok. i was using resin the other day to fix my helicopter blade. well when i put a little bit of resin, i accidentally dropped a little too much hardener in there. it started smoking so i chucked it outside. i though it was going to xplod or something. |
Gold Member Username: Mr_keboAlbertville, Al USA Post Number: 1140 Registered: Nov-04 | lol nah thats normal if you use to much hardner haha. Resin isnt required to build a box. Its used to help airflow and strentghen the enclosure. also helps seal it off even more |
