i really like the pioneer premier HU's cosmetics but the ones in my price range are only 2.2 volts preamp voltage, so my real question is how important is preamp voltage, because i plan to run 3000 RMS to my subs and i just dont want to compromise the level of my bass just to get a nice looking HU when i could buy a cheap kenwood for 100, that will do my subs better and not look very good so if you guys could just explain to me how important it is or give me some suggestions for a a nice head unit at around 120 or less, i would appreciate it
The higher the voltage the cleaner the signal. You will be able to turn the gain down further eliminating "noise" in the system. If your going for a SQ set up its worth it. But for a SPL system, it will be unnotiable, Almost. If your looking at the Kenwoods, The X590 is a decent unit. about $125 or so. 5 volts out and burr brown chip. Also has USB.
