I guess my account got deleted. So I am back to zero posts I can't get to the tech page on Fi's website. Could someone explain to me what the advantage of the flatwindcoil is. I am considering either 4 SSD's or 4 Q's. 15's. I will be running them all off a single orion 2500d. But if I get the Q's I will eventually(might be a good while) upgrade my amps to give full power.
Would you happen to know how much power handling they add? Also, in your opinion(outside of spl), what sq advantages does the Q have over the SSD?(if you have heard them). Thanks havoc.
I think the extra 70$ per sub is worth it for 200 watts of extra power handling. And its really worth it for the extra 6mm of oneway linear xmax per sub. Lots more air movin.
Pretty much summed up... flatwind adds 2-300W RMS power handling. The Q is a decent step up from the SSD in both SQ and power handling. Copper coils for the SSD allow them to play deeper in the same sized enclosure, or to have a similar to standard response in a smaller enclosure.
