The xx0 series isn't old school, it's just not very new. I've owned more than one amp from that series, and currently have a 430 in my wife's truck.
It's an entry level amp, so being "any good" depends on your reference. If you're expecing 800w, then no, but it's not an 800w amp. It's rated for 375x2 at 2 ohms stereo. Those amps were roughly 25% over-rated so you can figure 550w or so bridged, 225x2 at 2 ohms stereo. Not bad budget amps IMO. A lot of them pop up pretty cheap on ebay.
