Silver Member Username: Pike11012w6v2s, Indianapolis... Post Number: 285 Registered: Oct-05 | I am kind of new to box making. Is it standard the more port area you have the lower the tuning goes? |

Gold Member Username: RedlinerWilmington, Ma Post Number: 3337 Registered: Jun-05 | sealed plays a flatter tune then a ported box so it kinda depends on how u have your ported tuned if u know what i mean someone correct me if im wrong |

Bronze Member Username: Gh0st_31FL USA Post Number: 69 Registered: May-06 | if you want it low, jsut get a ported box and tune it low ![]() |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 9347 Registered: Aug-05 | here's the thing....the lower you tune a ported box, the less control the sub has at higher freq. so there are trade-offs. ![]() |
Gold Member Username: BestmankindFi AudioBTL Post Number: 7669 Registered: Oct-05 | hitting low really depends on the sub. some subs hit low really well while others don't. |
Gold Member Username: Basshead86FTW Post Number: 9372 Registered: Aug-05 | indeed it does Chad, good point. but if you want balanced output across the scale, and don't want to sacrifice "muddy" ![]() |

Depending on size, shape and tune a ported enclosure has the potential to be LOUDER not deeper. A ported box may loose control at higher power levels due to the loss of acoustic suspension. Because a sealed box retains its acoustic suspension throughout its entire playing range that will allow it to play through a much more vast set of frequencies which would only be cut by subwoofer design limitations. I would say a sealed box will play lower but if the same sub in a box able to play equally low the ported box would be louder. Polo. |
