Too much for the Q

is 1500w rms too much for a 15" Q?? i am afraid that i will blow the subs if i push that much too it. any inputs on that??

if the enclosure is built to specs and gains are set correctly.. it should be fine unless you did not have enough current and your amp clipped

use a DMM, and there is some kind of tutorial on jl audio on how to set it correclly..

i would give it 1200 :-)

digital multi-meter and it reads basically everything, lol ohms, volts, amps, etc etc.. there like 15-20 bucks at radio shack

I cant find the forum but i just posted it on here prob on the last archive search it it says how to set the gains? its in there also 1400 should be fine for the sub

the regularm 20$ one will work just as good sinful. basically, as they go up in price, they just have more things you can test for. :-) they all are good quality,

use the subwoofer out RCA .. turn your h/u to 3/4 volume.. select a note 8-10hz higher than your boxes tuning frequency and get your DMM ready.

now take the RMS power you are running and multiply it by the OHM load it is at. now once you get that answer take the square root of your answer.. that is the voltage you are looking for.

put the DMM on the output for your subs and turn it to 200AC or similar .. play the tone and turn the gain higher or lower until you match the voltage you caculated.. assuming you do not know box rise i'd set the gain a tad higher in voltage due to the imp rise
