I'll sell you an amp for $315+ shipping that will put out a little more power with better build quality :-) ..

I've had that happen to two amps.. one of the mounting screws that went through the amp hit a wire.. Did you mount your amp to a piece of wood.. and then the wood to the car.. ? How was it mounted?

Kevin I hadn't even mounted it yet, I was just going to do test run before I even mounted it! Oh and right now isn't a good time to be buying another amp, wrong season! I gotta take care of the Fam (fiance and son) and bills first. Christmas is too expensive! lol

I'm just pissed right now, I forgot to add that when I put the new fuses in, they never blew nor did the in line fuse when I connected to the battery, the amp just started smoking!

my uncle's memphis amp did the same thing. he was telling me "wtf chad!!! you fukkked up my amp". lol. i told him "no way". i've been installing amps for the past 2 years and i could do this sh!t with my eyes closed. it was weird.

just like your the 2 fuses went out so we replaced it. after that when i went to power it up, it started smoking.

we gave it away. i contacted memphis and they wanted $200 to fix that amp. he bought a 02 bmw 525i couple of years ago and the previous owner had that amp in there. the car came with memphis 500d amp and 2 memphis 10 inch subs. he ended up replacing the amp with a jbl 600 amp.

Well I'm in a jam now. I was supposed to compete Dec. 17th, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen now. I have $, but not trying to spend any on another amp, it's too close to Christmas. My birthday is Wednesday, hopefully someone will donate a good used one! lol J/K, well not really Anyway, I was thinking about my ground, would a weak ground make it smoke without blowing fuses?

a weak ground shouldn't smoke an amp. only way i can think of smoking an amp in your situation is if the + and - somehow touched. i think you got stuck with a bad amp in the first place.

get it fixed for about 100 bucks. Tell the guy you bought the amp for 100 and he'll fix the amp in that price range. Thats how some electronics places do it to me. I tell them I got the amp for 300 and they say it cost 150 to fix! Didn't even look at it just said it'll be 150. See if you can get it fixed for a reasonable price. Test it when you get it back, and sell it. Or sell it online for 100, 110 loss. We'll see what you can do.

Where did you buy it from? Just contact em and say when you received it that it wasn't working. And you would like to exchange it. See if they'll let you, and of course pretend you had it professionally done.
