i got a call today from the guy wit the loudest system in town... or so he says. well he was talkin sh*t and it pissed me off so now i got to make sure i beat him in the next comp. hes got 2 15in mtx 7500's in sealed boxes. i dont know exacty how big of amp he has but its prolly no more than 1500. well i have a 15in re sx and an ed nine.1 to work with and im gonna build an spl box. i need to get my sx as loud as possible with this amp and the sub. for an spl box im thinkin 4 cubes after dis., resined, braced, and tuned high. any suggestions on tuning? im thinkin 40 to 45hz?
hey hey hey guys dont make fun of the 7500's they def get loud. but he prob onyl has about 1krms going to them. i own 2 of them and my dd 9500 smoked them though so u should b able to win.but its not like a piece of cake like there making it seem
no way he did 150s with sealed 7500s.. honestly I see him maybe doing 144-145 with that setup
if you are interested i'll sell you a box i built for my RE SX 15.. canaan designed it with me. its resined inside as well and coated with a ruber coating on the outside. tuned to 45hz .. or maybe it was 42hz.. lmfao idk... hit me up on AIM
Mtx subs are actually pretty nice...the 7500 and 8500's at least, over priced though.
I did a box w/ interchangble ports for a dual 4ohm 8500 15" alil while back and put it on a MTX amp rated for 800wrms @ 2ohm. We did 145.0dB @50hz w/ that box.
Justin, the only way that guy did 154dB is if it was on a miscalibrated AC180 mic. I would actually say 143ish is what those 2 15's sealed would do on Termlab.
Depending on what frequency youre car likes, ~4cuft tuned to ~45hz would be a good place to start.
These are the specs I get when I run it through BBP6.. given it is a slot port acts longer than it is it should be really close to 45hz .. Be honest I would could prolly do $100 shipped if shipping is not too much. this is just taking up space.. I layer of glass resin.. only thing it needs is a terminal cup where that hole is..
