hey i got a quote from Nate at excessive and he said he could build a 180amp alt for 330 shipped. now iraggi has the 180 amputator for 386 shipped and the dominator series 180 for 295 shipped. i have a 1200jbl that i plan using for a 15 Q, and a kenwood 800 something for my speakers. any suggestions which i should get? btw what about a battery? can i just buy an extra one once i have a better alt and stick it in the trunk? how much is a good battery?
Do not go with Excessive over Iraggi.I've heard many problems with Excessive Amperage alternators not putting out rated amperage or even mounting up properly.I've also heard of them burning up quickly too and weren't warranted...and I also have heard that they have terrible customer service...which I have experienced first hand.Dominick from Iraggi returns calls right away and doesn't play games,he takes every problem seriously and personally trys to solve things.Go with Iraggi and get the lifetime warranty for the extra money you won't be dissapointed.I also reccomend you going with a higher amp alternator because in the future you may want to upgrade and more is always better in this case.
well im not growing money in my backyard so i need to keep the budget down. so it seems that iraggi is the way to go (logan, you got voted off the island bro) so its a choice between dom and amp. is the only difference the idle amp output? if so i would have to choose between the cheapest amputator or a better dom with a warranty. who votes for what?
, don't know to much about excessive but Iraggi did a good job on my alternator! I bought the lifetime warranty to just in case. From what I hear around, excessive had more problems than iraggi. But then there was a time when I caught a thread of someone or some people bad mouthing iraggi saying they had problems and such. If you go the iraggi route, give him all the information he needs, especially motor specs like liters, v8,v6,4banger and such so he doesn't send out the wrong alt, which is what some, I said some people have had done to them! But I believe that was miscommunication that lead to that =).
btw since this is my thread, yes i paid in full... here are a few pics of my box progress. i decided to go with a birch front panel since i want to go a little bit classy.
Nathan alternators are very good products, so is Doms alternators. I have never had a problem with either alternators, I have products from both guys, and they are both excellent products.
Both guys use the best parts, its only a limited resorce for ho alternator parts, so everyone who builds them, get the parts from about the same place!
Personally I run the excessive 300a HO alternator, and IT aint NO joke! Nate had it to me in about 1 week! also he is a 1 man work crew. Warranties are also available if you talk with Nate.
why b!tch about geting a product late, that does not make the product worst than the other... also if you hadnt use both, dont talk sh!t about the other! this is childish.
if you have a import that has to be hand wound or something, then Don would be the one to take care of you quicker.
Nate is extremely fast with domestics and he also does imports!!
right on, i will try to email the iraggi dudes and let them know what i have. i would like to know what you guys think i should get, then compare to the iraggi suggestions. car/system stats: 1999 honda accord, 4dr LX, 2.3L VTEC. jbl bp1200.1 (1200+ rms), 400rms to speakers, and a Q 15" in the plans though its a couple oooooold 12" kicker comps right now.
hmmm... thanks B. crap, i hate these kinds of decisions. question: should i spend the money on the alt now and buy the Q later? or the other way around? since i dont have enough for both right now.

Dom puts the higher end parts into the warranted products. That way he won't need worry about replacing them for free. My amputator is solid. And under the lifetime warranty it will get traded for free when I get a new car (the amputator already comes with a 1yr warranty).
Besides, Dom wins SPl contests with multiple 5.25 speakers. That's got to account for something (stand-up guy, seriously).
according to dom he is better than nate when it comes to import cars. thats why when i went to nate first to get my alt, he was only able to do 200a alt for me while dom built me a 260a alt. the alt is still going strong and never had a problem (knock on wood).
i have to re-ask this question: should i spend the money on the alt now and buy the Q later? or the other way around? since i dont have enough for both right now.
I say alternator now. You get the Q and then later your like I'll just get the alternator laters it not that much of a big deal. SO get the alternator first.
btw i was thinking the same thing. this amp is killing my cars electric. all my lights flash with some fast tech sh!t my headlights are like strobes. i think its time to upgrade the alt...
well if J B lives in florida then he either drove a long way or there is another nate in the alternator biz. thats a bit farther than its worth. i think im gonna go with the excessive since the idle amps are much higher than the iraggi and nates a cool guy who actually replies to my emails...
well i never heard the big tree alternator housing to - battery negative only alternator housing to car chassis so it will be the same or will be better or worse doing it that way?
