Silver Member Username: PitbullguyChicago, Illinois USA Post Number: 132 Registered: Oct-06 | Ok wrong forum i know...this forum gets way more activity though and the people who have helped me thus far and i trust most hang around this forum. Need to pick a head unit for $129 or less off of www.onlinecarstereo.com . It will be applied with the following equipment: - 6x8 Infinity reference 2-ways in front - 6x9 Infinity reference 2-ways in back - 2 12" assassins ported...powered by a kicker zx750.1 mono amp. I probly know even less about HU's than subs and amps and stuff so i need suggestions. I've been told pioneers and kenwoods are good HUs...what's the best in this price range? |

Post Number: 9944 Registered: Jul-05 | remember man _ HU is the most important part of any system if $ is seriously tight then http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15653 but if u can spring a extra $38 get http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=15756 ........ |
Silver Member Username: PitbullguyChicago, Illinois USA Post Number: 134 Registered: Oct-06 | money isn't that tight...i could spend 3 G's on a system if i really wanted to...it just wouldn't be very responsible IMO. when i said $129 i was low-ballin cuz ppl on ecoustics always push you to spend more so yeah i could throw an extra 38$ or even a little more maybe what i'm curious about though is why the second one you listed is better? can you explain briefly? |

Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 9955 Registered: Jul-05 | premier units usually have a few more features , higher preout voltage & if u buy from a authorised dealer u get a 2yr warranty vs 1yr on the reg pioneer units ...my advice get a model that is midway in price so @ least u will have some features like 3 rca preouts which the 480mp doesnt have @ least this model http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16369 ........ |
Silver Member Username: PitbullguyChicago, Illinois USA Post Number: 136 Registered: Oct-06 | That one looks nice rovin... $166 is like the top of my price range but i could do it...Here's what i wanna understand though... People keep telling me that you don't wanna go cheap on the HU because it's the center of your system and it can make everything else sound like crap if you don't buy a nice one. Does moving up to higher price/quality model really affect the SQ of your system that much? or is it more just about more features and capabilities? And if it does affect the SQ, what is it within the specs of the HU that you can look for to determine the sound quality it will provide? Hope this question makes sense...i don't want to just buy what everyone tells me to buy...i wanna have some understanding for how car audio works...so then i can write a big g@y sappy love note to everyone like ROB BROWN did. j/k rob |

Subwoofer control<<<Features like these make it more expensive, but its nothin that an external crossover/eq cant do. The P780mp has this feature that adjusts the listeners position and it automatically adjusts the settings to sound best for the person in that seat. ITs awesome...the 580 will be nice too. |
Silver Member Username: PitbullguyChicago, Illinois USA Post Number: 138 Registered: Oct-06 | yeah i'm really liking that one that rovin posted the link to...Pioneer Premier 580mp errr w/e it's called that sounds like a cool feature jordan but i'd feel bad for my passengers lol (and it's most likely outta my price range) |
Gold Member Username: RovinTrinidad & T... Post Number: 9960 Registered: Jul-05 | look @ it this way - last yr i was searching 4 a outstanding HU 2 buy with a budget of 300 i read how alpine' standard kept declining (06 models i heard from ppl r even worst) , eclpise is excellent but out of my price range dont like d features & SQ of JVC / Clarion / Panasonic since i heard some b4 so i went with my 1st Premier 860 which has 13band built in EQ etc - & my install sounds really clean/loud Ppl r like "wtf !?" when they hear my music & i tell them i use NO additional external xover/processors etc , u can add extra if u want but i wanted my set simple as possible . Dont know if u looked @ my install in the bragging section Bottom line : a few additional features does help so dont buy the lowest & no real need 2 buy the highest , mid level model is good enough ..... |
Silver Member Username: PitbullguyChicago, Illinois USA Post Number: 140 Registered: Oct-06 | som1 recommended to me that i get a HU that will allow me to control my woofers separately...so I can adjust the bass without messing up the mids/highs of the speakers. Also said to look for a HU with an HP/LP on it. What does the HP/LP mean? and does the pioneer premier580 have these things? http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=16369 P.S. THANK YOU ROVIN you are learnin me good. |
