So I ordered a type R, and I was wondering, I read somewhere that some subs need to be broken in. So I was curious if I do need to break it in, and if so for how long? Also, I am a little confused by some of the diagrams to wire the sub to the amp. Does anyone have any source to a more detailed diagram, or better yet some pics??? Thanks for any help. I am a noob or w/e.
is the sub dual 4 ohm? and what amp are you running?
some people say you should break in a sub, some dont. i did when i got my subs before, just to be on the safe side. i just played them the first 2 days up to like half volume, then after that they will be ready to pump up. they will continue to break themselves in for ~1 week...which will make them get louder
Some cones/drivers are stiffer than others and need some time to be loose enough to cut loose. I've heard Type Rs are stiffer than most others but 1-2 weeks playing at LOW volumes for about 20-30 min a day should be sufficient - you crank it on your first day and you have a good chance of blowing them

sigh - tried to catch the first post before it went through because it made no sense due to my stupendously horrific grammar but we all see how that worked out...
