Silver Member Username: GrebnereonPost Number: 369 Registered: Mar-06 | ok...first off, use 3/4 inch MDF its 19.99 at menards, use 1 5/8 inch deck screws and regular wood glue for all joints....put screws 4-5 inches apart then, once you have it put mostly together, put liquid nails on all the joints on the inside of the box to make sure it is all sealed. |

Silver Member Username: GrebnereonPost Number: 374 Registered: Mar-06 | true...i hate it when you get a box put together perfectly 3/4 of the way and then you slit out a corner....make me want to throw the box to the ground and start over |

Silver Member Username: RiskybPost Number: 303 Registered: Feb-06 | I would definitly reccomend liquid nails over gorilla glue. I wonder why some of you on this site are always first to reccomend that. I guess its the effective marketing strategy or something. It's not all that great for the job. 1) its expensive 2) takes a long time to apply 3) liquid nails and cheaper stuff is much easier to spread |
Silver Member Username: RenegadesrunLafayette, IN US Post Number: 471 Registered: Oct-04 | I prefer liquid nails myself, but gorilla glue, properly applied, imo is one hell of a bond, and much cleaner where the final result is concerned. It also is sandable to a fine finish here painting a roughly enclosure, sans glass, is concerned. Nothing about hype what-so-ever. The stuff works for me. I have used it on many boxes to date. |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 48 Registered: Oct-06 | what is the easiest way to drill the holes for box?? i dont have any tools so i need to find a friend or someone to help me? any suggestions would help. also how could i make my box stronger?? |
Bronze Member Username: Holt_champHtown, MI Post Number: 49 Registered: Oct-06 | ^^^^^when i said holes i meant the holes that the subs go in |
Silver Member Username: RenegadesrunLafayette, IN US Post Number: 473 Registered: Oct-04 | Jigsaw, or better yet, a jib and router. Stronger? Window bracing works for most, i use all-thread when cost is a factor. When its not? I try and kill 2 birds with one stone (rise/structural integrity) and resin the inside, with a couple coats, and sand well. |
