Gold Member Username: Van_manBoston South, MA Post Number: 1076 Registered: Mar-06 | I making a box soon for a JL12W6. JL suggests a box 26.25 W x 14 T x 13 D with port 1.5 x 12.5 x 29 that other site give this after plugging in all the numbers 26.25 wide x 14 tall x 19.25 deep. tuned to 26.45hz with 2.35 cf. So who do I trust? Also 26.45 hz seems a little low too, I was going to go higher ~ 35-38 or so, but i am not sure what to do now. Lastly, I have know idea what the JL spec box is tuned to. Should I just make all three and see which sounds better? or does anyone else have a better idea? Thanks. BTW, my new addition to the van of slam. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Also, different enclosure design programs are going to give you mixed outputs as to tuning. He!!, everytime I plug JL's spec'd enclosure's into BBP 6 the port tuning is always alittle higher than the spec. Just build the JL spec'd enclosure, you be more than satisfied with the bass response. |

Gold Member Username: James1115Ct Post Number: 7130 Registered: Dec-04 | Yeah phil Jl claims it is 32 so 33 sounds right if you said it is normally a tad higher then they say. Phil I have to take some measurements in my truck and send them over to you for an enclosure. Have you ever done one for a dodge ram quad cab in the center front seat where the center console is? it is a 2003 so it is the newer body sytle. JL makes one to go there that is sealed but I want one ported that the sub fires down to the floor and the port goes forward, almost like a Home Theater sub set-up. Do you think you could do this? |

Silver Member Username: Phil_salisburyPost Number: 114 Registered: Sep-06 | James, Can't say I have ever done a center console enclosure specific to the vehicle mentioned. Best thing to do is just e-mail all the dimensions and details for the enclosure you want per the area the enclosure is to fit. Don't forget to include: Name / Model of Subwoofer Type - Sealed /Ported Direction Subwoofer is to be Mounted Include any additional information I need to be made aware of for the design of the enclosure. |
